Over 30,000 Reservations for the Maruti Victoris, with the Petrol Model Taking the Lead

Within weeks of its launch, the Maruti Victoris secured over 30,000 reservations, marking an impressive debut into the mid-size SUV market in India. It's interesting to note that, despite the availability of CNG and hybrid options, over half of these reservations are for the petrol models, indicating a significant move toward traditional powertrains. While tech-loaded trims with ADAS and hybrid systems highlight the increased consumer demand for safety and economy in contemporary SUVs, the revolutionary under-body CNG version has also attracted considerable takers.

Only a few weeks after its September 2025 launch, Maruti Suzuki's recently introduced mid-sized SUV, the Maruti Victoris, has already surpassed 30,000 bookings in India. Sources within the company and the industry claim that the high figure indicates considerable consumer demand in all of its variants.

Variants of Petrol Leading the Way

Even though the Victoris has a variety of engine options, such as CNG and hybrid, the petrol-only vehicles are still the most popular. Over 50% of reservations are for non-CNG cars, indicating that consumers prefer gasoline and smart hybrid models.

CNG Variant Under-body Gains a Strong Share

It's interesting to note that Victoris's under-body CNG variant, a first-in-segment feature, has claimed a sizable share. According to reports, this CNG type accounts for about 11,000 reservations, or 33–38% of the total. This indicates that despite the increased interest in petrol variants, many budget-conscious consumers are choosing the fuel-efficient CNG option.

Technology Appeal of ADAS and eCVT Variants

With roughly 16% of all bookings, the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) equipped trims are also in high demand. In the meantime, the strong-hybrid (eCVT) model is also becoming more well-liked, indicating a change in consumer preferences for more sophisticated features and powertrains.

Positioning and Pricing

In India, the initial ex-showroom price of the Victoris was ₹10.50 lakh, but the most expensive models cost up to around ₹19.99 lakh. It offers a combination of high-end amenities and affordability and is situated between the Grand Vitara and the brand's Brezza model.

What This Signifies for Maruti

Maruti is in a favorable position in the cut-throat mid-SUV industry because to this impressive booking success. The tech-rich feature set and variety of powertrain options (strong hybrid, CNG, and gasoline) appear to be appealing. There is already a reasonable waiting time in place; according to certain industry reports, there may be a wait of up to ten weeks in some areas.

The Victoris has gained popularity among both consumers and dealers. It provides options for various customer priorities, such as fuel affordability (CNG), technology (ADAS, hybrid), or pure petrol refinement, thanks to its wide variety mix. For Maruti, maintaining price competitiveness in a crowded SUV market, timely deliveries, and variety availability would be essential to maintaining this momentum.
