New Lexus ES India Launch Date Confirmed for March 20, 2026

Lexus is bringing its next-generation ES luxury sedan to India on March 20, 2026, less than a year after its global debut. The new model arrives with a dramatically sharper design, a significantly larger cabin, a cleaner tech-forward interior, and electrified powertrain options. It will go up against the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series LWB and Audi A6 in what is shaping up to be a very interesting midsize luxury sedan contest.

  • The new Lexus ES brings a bold redesign, a bigger body and a cleaner, tech-forward cabin to India

  • Hybrid powertrains are expected to lead the Indian lineup, with global EV variants also in the picture

India does not have to wait long. Lexus is set to launch the next-generation ES in India on 20 March 2026, and if first impressions count for anything, this one arrives with a lot to say.

The new ES adopts a sharper, more rakish design philosophy than its predecessor. Up front, it sports sleek Z-shaped lights that include the daytime running lamps and indicators, while the main headlight units sit underneath, concealed by vertically oriented gloss-black trim pieces. Gone is the polarizing spindle grille. In its place sits a small air dam flanked by diamond-pattern detailing, which feels far more grown-up.

Bigger in Every Direction

Dimensionally, the new ES is 165mm longer, 55mm wider and 110 to 115mm taller than the current model, with an 80mm longer wheelbase too. That is not a subtle update. That is a proper generational step up.

Inside, Less Is Genuinely More

The new ES moves away from the button-heavy layout of its predecessor in favour of a cleaner design, folding several in-car functions into a larger 14-inch infotainment touchscreen that supports OTA updates.

Features Worth Getting Excited About

The equipment list includes a 12.3-inch digital driver's display, a Mark Levinson sound system, an electrochromic panoramic glass roof, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, a Boss mode, powered front seats with memory function, and reclining rear seats.

Lexus has also worked on reducing cabin noise through improved door sealing and higher-grade glass on the front doors.

What Powers it in India

Globally, the new ES comes with hybrid and EV powertrain options. Since the outgoing ES is sold in hybrid form in India, we can expect the new model to also be offered as a hybrid. The new ES 300h is available in 197 hp 2.0-litre and 201hp 2.5-litre petrol-hybrid setups, while the higher-spec 350h uses the latter powertrain in a 247hp state of tune. All hybrid variants are mated to an e-CVT, with options for FWD or AWD.

Whether the fully electric variants make it to India remains to be confirmed.

Who is it Up Against

Like the outgoing ES, the new model will rival the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series LWB and Audi A6 in the midsize luxury sedan segment. That is serious company, and the new ES looks well-equipped to hold its own.
