The Mercedes-Benz CLA 200 Standard Range joins the CLA lineup in India with a tentative price of Rs 55 lakh and a 542km WLTP claimed range.
Bookings are now open for both CLA variants, with deliveries beginning from April 2026 for the Long Range and June 2026 for the Standard Range.
There is something quietly telling about the way car companies listen these days. When Mercedes-Benz introduced the CLA electric for India, it was the long-legged CLA 250+ Long Range that grabbed the headlines. But buyers asked a perfectly reasonable question - what if we do not need 792 kilometres of range, and would rather pay a little less for it? Mercedes listened.
The result is the CLA 200 Standard Range, a new entry point to the CLA family that makes the car's three-pointed star emblem a touch more attainable for those eyeing the luxury EV segment.
Bookings for both the CLA 200 Standard Range and the CLA 250+ Long Range are now open, with a reservation amount of Rs 1.5 lakh. The former carries a tentative ex-showroom price of Rs 55 lakh, while the Long Range sits just above it at around Rs 59 lakh. It is worth noting that Mercedes has pegged final pricing to foreign exchange rates at the time of launch, which is scheduled for mid-April 2026. So the numbers, while a strong indicator, are not yet set in stone.
Range, Speed, and a Voltage Architecture Worth Talking About
542 Kilometres and a 20-Minute Top-Up
The CLA 200 Standard Range offers a claimed WLTP range of 542km, which is a figure that will make perfect sense for the vast majority of Indian buyers. Its sibling, the CLA 250+ Long Range, stretches that to an impressive 792km, but the gap in day-to-day relevance is far narrower than it first appears.
Both variants share the same 800V electrical architecture, which is arguably the most significant detail in the entire spec sheet. Using a 240kW DC fast charger, the CLA 200 can recover approximately 320km of range in just 20 minutes. The Long Range variant edges ahead slightly, adding up to 400km in the same timeframe.
For owners who travel frequently, Mercedes has also flagged access to its MB.CHARGE Public network, which spans more than 9,000 charging points. A 22kW wall box charger for home use is available as an option, though customers who pre-book either variant will receive one complimentary.
Same DNA, Different Price Tag
Equipment Levels Stay Largely Unchanged
One of the more pleasant surprises with the CLA 200 is how little buyers actually give up compared to the Long Range. The variant comes with Progressive Line styling, comfort seats, a multifunction sports leather steering wheel, and a choice of two trim options.
The equipment levels between the two variants are described by Mercedes as largely similar, which means the Standard Range does not feel like a stripped-down compromise so much as a considered choice.
Deliveries for the CLA 250+ Long Range are expected to begin by the end of April 2026, while the CLA 200 Standard Range follows in June 2026.
