New Rules Have Been Issued Under One Vehicle One Fastag

New Rules have been issued under One Vehicle One FASTag.

There are times when a car owner, who may be a family member, wants to know the toll routes that their vehicle has traveled. To hide their trips from family members, some people may think of installing a second FASTag. This begs the question: is it possible for a vehicle to have more than one FASTag?

This policy has subsequently been updated by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). According to the present regulation, a vehicle can only have one FASTag attached to it. Multiple FASTags caused issues, therefore this update was made to help users and toll operators understand each other better.

What if someone has multiple FASTags?

The system will identify the most recently used FASTag as active, if your car has several FASTags associated with it. This implies that transactions will only take into account the most recent FASTag.

The New Rule for FASTag?

The transaction will be refused under the new rules if a FASTag is inactive for more than 60 minutes before the vehicle arrives at the toll booth and is inactive for 10 minutes after the toll booth. In certain situations, the system will show "Error Code 176" to show that there is a payment problem.

Conclusion

The "One Vehicle, One FASTag" rule aims to streamline toll payments, reduce confusion, and prevent misuse. With only one active FASTag per vehicle, the system ensures smooth transactions and better coordination between users and toll operators. If a vehicle has multiple FASTags, only the most recent one will be considered active. Additionally, the introduction of error codes like "Error Code 176" further enhances transparency in toll payments. These new regulations reinforce the purpose of FASTag technology—making toll collection faster, more efficient, and hassle-free.
