Tata Sierra EV to Launch by Q2 2026, RWD, AWD, Triple Screens & More

Tata Motors is set to bring the Sierra EV to Indian roads between April and June 2026, slotting it neatly below the Harrier EV in its growing electric lineup. Built on the advanced Acti.ev+ platform, the Sierra EV will offer both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options, a triple-screen cabin, ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, and ADAS, all aimed squarely at the fiercely competitive midsize electric SUV segment.

  • The Tata Sierra EV is set for an April-June 2026 launch, slotting below the Harrier EV in Tata's electric portfolio.

  • The SUV will offer both RWD and AWD options, a triple-screen cabin, and a suite of premium features to take on rivals like the Hyundai Creta Electric and Mahindra BE 6.

The Tata Sierra holds a special place in the hearts of Indian car enthusiasts. First launched in 1991, the original became something of a cult classic, so when Tata revived the nameplate in late 2025 with an ICE version, the excitement was already palpable.

Now, the electric version is on the horizon. According to industry sources, Tata Motors is set to launch the Sierra EV by the second quarter of 2026, positioning it just below the Harrier EV, which currently serves as the brand's zero-emission flagship.

The Sierra EV is currently in the final stages of validation, moving steadily towards series production. It will roll off the line at Tata's Sanand facility, sharing the factory floor with its petrol and diesel sibling.

Platform, Power, and Performance

Built for the Electric Age

The Sierra EV is built on Tata's dedicated Acti.ev+ skateboard platform, the same advanced architecture that underpins the Curvv EV and the Harrier EV. Two battery pack options are expected, delivering a claimed range of up to 500 km on a full charge.

RWD and AWD, Something for Everyone

Tata has confirmed that the Sierra EV will be offered with both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive setups, making it only the second model in the brand's EV range to do so after the electric Harrier. There's also the possibility of an integrated drive unit, a compact, cost-efficient packaging solution already seen on the Punch EV, which could help keep prices competitive.

A Cabin Fit for the Future

Three Screens and Plenty of Features

Step inside and you'll find a decidedly modern space. The Sierra EV features a triple-screen dashboard layout with a 12.3-inch infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch co-occupant entertainment screen, and a 10.25-inch driver's display.

Dual-zone climate control, ventilated and powered front seats, and a large panoramic sunroof are also part of the package, alongside Level 2 ADAS, multiple airbags, and hill launch and descent control.

Stiff Competition Awaits

The midsize electric SUV space in India is no longer a quiet corner of the market. The Sierra EV will go up against the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, the Mahindra BE 6, and the Maruti e Vitara, all fiercely capable and keenly priced machines. Its strategic placement above the Curvv EV and below the Harrier EV signals Tata's intent to appeal to buyers seeking greater road presence and a more enriched cabin experience without crossing into full-on flagship territory.

With the Sierra EV, Tata isn't just launching another electric SUV; it's putting a storied badge back in the spotlight.
