Maruti Suzuki sells 1.38 lakh CNG cars in Q1 of FY2024

Maruti Suzuki, the Indian Subsidiary of Japanese Suzuki automaker Suzuki Motor Corporation is India’s top and most reliable car brand. Each financial year it achieves another milestone and reportedly this time it has witnessed significant success in the sales of its CNG (compressed natural gas) cars In the first quarter of the financial year 2024. The company is known for having the largest CNG portfolio in India and it sold an impressive 1.38 lakh CNG cars between April and June 2024. This achievement highlights the growing demand for more eco-friendly and cost-effective vehicle options in India.

Largest CNG Portfolio in India

Maruti Suzuki boasts the largest CNG car lineup in the country. During the first quarter, the company sold a total of 414,000 vehicles in the domestic market, with 138,000 of these being CNG models. This highlights the growing popularity and demand for CNG vehicles among Indian consumers, who are increasingly looking for cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternatives.

Extensive Range of CNG Models

The automaker currently offers 12 CNG-powered models, providing a wide range of options for consumers. These models include:

  • Arena Dealership Models: Alto K10, Celerio, Eeco, S-Presso, Wagon R, Dzire, Brezza, and Ertiga.

  • Nexa Dealership Models: Baleno, Fronx, XL6, and the Grand Vitara.

This diverse portfolio ensures that there is a CNG car for various needs and preferences, from small hatchbacks to larger multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs).

Upcoming CNG Variants of the Swift

Maruti Suzuki is also planning to expand its CNG range by introducing CNG variants of the newly launched new-generation Swift in the coming months. Previously, the Swift had select variants available with CNG options, and with the new-gen update, it is expected to attract even more buyers looking for a fuel-efficient hatchback.

High Demand for Ertiga CNG

One of the standout models in Maruti Suzuki's CNG lineup is the Ertiga. The MPV has gained significant popularity, evidenced by the 43,000 open bookings for its CNG variant across the country. The Ertiga's spacious design and fuel efficiency make it a top choice for families and commercial use alike.

To sum up, Maruti Suzuki's impressive sales of 138,000 CNG cars in the first quarter of FY2024 underscore the growing trend towards eco-friendly and cost-effective transportation solutions in India. With the largest CNG portfolio in the country and plans to expand it further, Maruti Suzuki is well-positioned to lead the market in CNG vehicle sales. The upcoming CNG variants of the Swift and the high demand for models like the Ertiga indicate a bright future for the automaker in the CNG segment. As more consumers seek out sustainable vehicle options, Maruti Suzuki's focus on CNG technology is likely to continue driving its success.
