Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the new MPV that is based on the Toyota Innova Hycross on July 5, 2023.
A spy shot that has surfaced online shows the MPV to be production ready. Upon launch it will be slotted on top of the fleet of cars in the Maruti Suzuki India lineup, it will be offered in multiple seating configurations and could be badged with the name “Engage”.
The MPV looks to have retained the silhouette of the Toyota Innova Hycross with cosmetic changes of its own on the exterior and the interior as well. The spy shots show that the Maruti Suzuki MPV will have a more prominent grille than the Toyota sister car, it will be split by the dual chrome bar running in between the grille and the Maruti Suzuki logo at the centre.
The grille will be flanked by the headlamp housing (hopefully LED) with horizontally placed DRLs. The front bumper has sizeable air dams and separate fog lamp housing.
The powertrain details are not disclosed yet, but we can expect the same 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that does duty for the Toyota Innova Hycross to be under the hood of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki MPV. The engine belts out 171 bhp and the hybrid powertrain produces 180 bhp of peak power. Transmission options are likely to include a CVT or an e-CVT for the MPV.
The Toyota Innova Hycross retails at a starting price of Rs.18.55 lakh for the base variant and goes up to Rs. 30 lakh for the top model. The upcoming Maruti Suzuki MPV is likely to have the same retail bracket and it will be the most expensive Maruti Suzuki car in the fleet.
