Maruti Suzuki has revealed the production-ready eVX, which will be launched as the e-Vitara. The first fully electric vehicle (BEV) from the brand, the e Vitara will make its global debut in Europe and Japan before hitting the Indian market in summer 2025. The e Vitara will be produced at Maruti’s Gujarat plant, making it the first electric model to be produced for global markets from India.
Crucial Specifications
The Maruti e Vitara measures 4.23 meters in length with a 2.7-meter wheelbase, positioning it to compete with other compact SUVs in the future. It will offer two battery pack options:
49kWh Battery Pack: Front-Wheel Drive (FWD), producing 142bhp and 189Nm of torque.
61kWh Battery Pack: Available in FWD with 171bhp/189Nm or in 4WD with a 181bhp front motor and 64bhp rear motor, producing a combined 300Nm torque—Suzuki’s most powerful torque in two decades.
The 4WD version will offer superior off-road capabilities, with the 49kWh FWD being a more accessible choice.
Built on Suzuki’s New Heartect-e Platform
The e Vitara is underpinned by Suzuki’s new Heartect-e platform, marking the beginning of a new era for Suzuki's electric vehicle range. This platform will be the base for future electric models like the Baleno, Jimny, Ertiga, and Swift, signifying Suzuki's commitment to expanding its BEV portfolio.
Interior Features and Design
The interior of the e Vitara features a minimalist yet functional design, with a one-piece display and a redesigned center console. The vertical air vents and an updated flat-bottom steering wheel add to the sleek, modern look. The cabin maintains Suzuki's signature design ethos, making the transition from internal combustion engine (ICE) to electric feel familiar and comfortable for existing Maruti customers.
Advanced Features and Technology
The e Vitara will come equipped with a range of advanced features, including:
Level 2 ADAS for enhanced safety.
A 360-degree camera for easier parking.
Connected car technology for remote monitoring and control.
A full LED light package for a premium appearance.
Fast-charging capabilities, V2L (Vehicle-to-Load), and V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) as part of its electric features.
These upgrades ensure that the e-Vitara stands out as a highly equipped and modern electric vehicle in its segment.
Production and Global Launch
The e Vitara will be produced at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant for global markets, reinforcing India’s growing role in the global electric vehicle supply chain. While it will launch first in Europe and Japan, the e Vitara is expected to make its Indian debut in the summer of 2025, following its Asian market introduction at the 2025 Auto Expo in January.
The e Vitara will compete with several electric SUVs, including the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Honda Elevate EV, Mahindra XEV.e9, Hyundai Creta EV, and Kia Carens EV.
