Again a memorable milestone for Mahindra & Mahindra is sales performance in 2024, with a total of 5,00,018 sales in the format of SUV for the very first time in the whole calendar year. With this announcement, the wholesale numbers for Mahindra will be released in December 2024 with annual totals of 5,28,460 which have grown modestly by a good 22 percent from 2023, wherein 4,33,172 units were sold.
Model-wise performance
The model-wise sales numbers for December are yet to be released, but insights over eleven months of 2024 reveal a little about what might have worked out well for Mahindra's SUV range. Containing both Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic variants, the Mahindra Scorpio was the best seller in terms of wholesale: 1,54,169 from January to November, or 32 percent of the total 4,82,164 made by Mahindra during this time.

Following Scorpio was the rugged Bolero, which chugged along selling 93,850 units and keeping up the tradition of being a reliable horse. The XUV700, Mahindra's flagship model, has the third position with 83,390 units whereas the compact XUV300/XUV3XO followed very closely with 78,826 units. By the combined sales of Thar and Thar Roxx, Mahindra occupies the fifth position at 69,354 units.
In the electric vehicle segment, its all-electric XUV400 took this number by 7,188 units more. The other two electric SUVs BE 6 and XEV 9E, which were launched toward the end of November, captured the market attention, and come early 2025, when they start reaching selected channels in different parts of India, they are likely to raise the EV sales substantially.

Mahindra has achieved remarkable headway so far in the sales cycle of Calendar Year 2024. Most prominently, the first-ever crossing of the much-talked-about 50,000-unit mark was achieved by Mahindra in September and the highest ever monthly performance by sales came in with 54,504 units, up 25 percent YoY. A decent figure in November, 46,222 units, though a bit soft at 41,424 finished in December, but up by 18 percent YoY.
Competitive Positioning
Well, Mahindra's portfolio now comprises ten SUVs with some of the most loved names: starting from the Bolero, Scorpio, Thar, and XUV700, all of whom create strong mighty soldiers for Mahindra to cash in when demand for utility vehicles is increasing in India.
Indeed, it's that inherent ability of the brand to adapt and respond to changing consumer trends that keeps it as one of the top SUV manufacturers in India.

Forecast for the Most Recent Fiscal Year
Mahindra sales figures for the near-completion Fiscal Year 2025 appear to have done quite well. In a period spanning nine months during Fiscal Year 2025, 4,02,360 units were reported, which already represents 87 percent of the grand total from last fiscal. By the looks of Mahindra's current projections for sales goals, the company may even be on track for the mark of 500,000 units by the end of the current year. In Conclusion
The sales figures for Mahindra Scorpio are steadily gaining speed. It has proven to be the best-selling SUV under the brand by the year 2024 and also the propeller for record sales for Mahindra. This means that, with the dramatic growth in the demand for SUVs across the fiercely competitive Indian automotive market, Mahindra is backing itself strategically to be able to secure a larger portion in the marketplace as it increases its footprint across legacies and electrics alike.
