Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e: Redefining Electric Mobility

With a focus on practicality and customer confidence, Mahindra’s BE 6 and XEV 9e are redefining the electric SUV experience in India.

When Mahindra unveiled the BE 6 and XEV 9e electric SUVs last year, the buzz was undeniable. These vehicles aren’t just about going green; they’re about delivering a seamless, stress-free driving experience.

From their impressive real-world range to their lifetime battery warranty, Mahindra has addressed some of the biggest concerns EV buyers face.

Let’s take a closer look at what makes these SUVs so special.

Real-World Range: Say Goodbye to Range Anxiety

One of the biggest hurdles for electric vehicle adoption is range anxiety. Mahindra has tackled this head-on with the BE 6 and XEV 9e, promising a driving experience that’s as convenient as it is eco-friendly.

Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO of Mahindra’s Auto and Farm Sector shared that the BE 6 and XEV 9e are designed to deliver over 500 km on a single charge for the larger battery variants. For most drivers, this means charging just once a week or even less frequently, depending on their daily commute.

The 59kWh battery variant offers an ARAI-claimed range of up to 556 km, while the 79kWh variant pushes the boundaries further with up to 682 km. While independent tests are yet to confirm these numbers, the promise of such an extensive range is a game-changer for EV enthusiasts.

Lifetime Battery Warranty: Peace of Mind for Buyers

Another major concern for EV buyers is battery life and replacement costs. Mahindra has taken a bold step by offering a lifetime warranty on the battery packs of the BE 6 and XEV 9e.

Jejurikar emphasized that this warranty is a key factor in building customer confidence.

“A big concern for customers was the lifespan of a battery, but our lifetime warranty helps sort that out as well,” he said. This move not only reassures buyers but also positions Mahindra as a brand that stands firmly behind its products.

Pack Three Variants: The Star of the Show

Among the different variants available, the top-spec Pack Three is stealing the spotlight. Packed with advanced features and equipped with a larger battery, this variant offers the perfect blend of luxury and performance.

To make Pack Three more accessible, Mahindra has introduced an innovative financing package called “Three for Me.”

In collaboration with Mahindra Finance, this plan allows customers to pay the same EMI for Pack Three as they would for the base Pack One variant. Flexible payment options, including balloon payments, make it even more appealing.

Jejurikar explained, “We created this package based on the initial feedback and interest in the Pack Three variants. It’s all about making premium features more affordable for our customers.”

Test Drives and Deliveries: What’s Next?

Mahindra is currently rolling out test drives for the BE 6 and XEV 9e in phases across India. These test drives are a great opportunity for potential buyers to experience the vehicles’ performance, comfort, and features firsthand.

Bookings for both models are set to open on February 14, with deliveries expected to begin in March. The company is optimistic about the response so far and believes that 2025 could be the year when electric SUVs truly take off in India.

The Road Ahead for Mahindra’s Electric Vision

Mahindra’s BE 6 and XEV 9e are more than just electric SUVs, they represent a bold step towards a sustainable future. With their focus on real-world usability, customer confidence, and innovative financing, these vehicles are poised to redefine the EV landscape in India.

As Jejurikar aptly puts it, “Every category needs an inflection point, and hopefully, 2025 will be the year when the uptake in this category finally begins to take off.”

Overall, The Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e are not just vehicles; they’re a statement of intent. By addressing key concerns like range anxiety and battery life, and by offering attractive financing options, Mahindra is making electric mobility more accessible and appealing than ever before.

As the world shifts towards sustainable transportation, Mahindra’s electric SUVs are leading the charge, proving that the future of driving is not just eco-friendly but also exciting and practical.
