Maharashtra Revises High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP) Fees: All You Need to Know

Subsequently, the Maharashtra government changed costs related to the high-security registration plates better known as HSRP to offer more standards of high security and better registration plates. The new mandate has to be followed before the dead-on date, for those who refuse the consequences.

Recently, the Maharashtra government has altered its fee structure for getting the HSRP for the vehicles that were registered before the 1st of April 2019. It is to enhance the safety of cars, prevent car jackings and to standardize the number plates.

With car modifications being done, the independent centre has challenged people to increase their level of observance of regulation as a way of avoiding fines.

Updated Rates for HSRP in Maharashtra

The Maharashtra Transport Department has updated the charges for HSRP installation, including GST. The rates are as follows:

  • Two-wheelers (motorcycles, scooters, tractors): ₹531

  • Three-wheelers (auto-rickshaws): ₹590

  • Four-wheelers and larger vehicles (cars, buses, trucks, tempos): ₹879

Additional costs include:

  • Snap Lock: ₹10.18

  • Third Registration Mark: ₹50

GST for HSRP installation is ₹81 for two-wheelers, ₹90 for three-wheelers, and ₹134.10 for four-wheelers and larger vehicles.

What is a High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP)?

HSRPs are tamper-proof number plates with advanced features to enhance vehicle security.

Key Features:

  • Tamper-proof locks: Eliminate the possibility of unauthorized erasure or copying.

  • Holograms and Serial Numbers: Use of tracking numbers for improved tracking.

  • Durable Materials: Designed using aluminium to last long since it is a common material in compressed air systems.

  • Standardized Design: Similarity of the genetic structure in all automobile types.

How to Apply for HSRP Installation

  1. Online Application:

  2. Go to the main website of the Maharashtra Transport Department.

  3. Customers input vehicle information and select the time of the service, as well as the amount of the fee to be paid online.

  4. Visit Authorized Centers:

  5. Brand new HSRP plates can be fitted onto the car at HSRP installation centres for plate fitting as well as windscreen sticker fixing.

  6. Compliance Deadline:

  7. It is recommended to install before the due date because penalties will be incurred in the end.

Benefits of Installing HSRP

  • Enhanced Security: Minimizes the likelihood of vehicle theft instances and tampering cases.

  • Improved Tracking: It aids the authorities in tracking stolen or unauthorized vehicles.

  • Legal Compliance: Don’t get penalties and respect laws.

  • Road Safety: This advances the style of the highway and brings a far better-protected place for the road.

Penalties for Non-Compliance

While clearing up on the above-stated HSRP the Maharashtra Transport Department has clarified that failure to get the HSRP installed before the set down deadlines has always and will also summon fines. All these penalties therefore appear to have been devised to ensure that everyone follows the set and legislation regarding uses of the road to enhance road safety.

Conclusion

The recent change in the charges of HSRP implemented by the Maharashtra government makes emphasis on vehicular safety and matching it with the national standards. Besides, timely actions provide transportation safe and without any accidents to those who own cars and avoid fines.

The HSRP mandate is easy to follow. Thanks to efficient practices and properly accredited installation centres, which are informative and are also guiding car owners to do what they can to minimize risks on the road.
