Kia Announces Price Hike Starting January 2025
Kia India has announced a 2% price increase across its entire model lineup, effective January 2025. The adjustment will impact popular models such as the Sonet, Seltos, Carens, and Carnival. The South Korean automaker joins a growing list of car manufacturers, including Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, and luxury brands like Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW, that have declared price hikes for the new year.
The price revision comes as Kia grapples with rising commodity prices, unfavorable exchange rates, and increased input costs. Despite the adjustment, the company assures customers it is absorbing a significant portion of the cost increases to minimize the financial burden on buyers.
Statement from Kia India
Hardeep Singh Brar, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Kia India, emphasized the brand’s commitment to quality and innovation. “At Kia, we are dedicated to providing technologically advanced vehicles of the highest quality. However, the sustained rise in input costs has made a necessary price adjustment unavoidable. We remain focused on ensuring that our customers continue to enjoy their favorite Kia vehicles with minimal financial impact,” he stated.
Upcoming Kia Syros SUV Launch
Kia’s year-end plans are also geared toward introducing new products to its Indian lineup. On December 19, 2024, Kia will launch the Syros SUV, which will be positioned between the Sonet and Seltos models. With this addition, Kia aims to cater to a broader audience by filling a key segment in its portfolio.
Kia’s Sales Milestones in India
Kia India’s remarkable performance in the domestic market is evident in its sales figures. Kia has sold:
670,000 units of the Seltos, its flagship compact SUV
480,000 units of the Sonet, a subcompact SUV
214,400 units of the Carens, a family-friendly 7-seater
15,000 units of the Carnival, a luxury MPV
These milestones underline Kia’s strong presence and its ability to meet the evolving preferences of Indian consumers.
Conclusion
While Kia’s price hike reflects the broader challenges faced by the automotive industry, the brand’s focus on customer satisfaction and innovation remains intact. With the upcoming launch of the Syros and its existing lineup, Kia is poised to maintain its competitive edge in the Indian market.
