Karnataka Traffic Challan 50% Waiver Till Sept 15 – How to Pay

In a major relief for motorists, the Karnataka government has rolled out a limited-period waiver scheme allowing vehicle owners to clear their pending traffic e-challans at half the original fine amount. The scheme is available until September 15, 2025, and payments can be made online or at KarnatakaOne centres.

The government of the State of Karnataka has just announced a special program granting a 50 percent rebate on pending traffic e-challan fines within the State. The scheme, which will be effective August 23, 2025, will run until September 15, 2025. The program will relieve citizens of the financial burden and speed the resolution of lakhs of unpaid traffic violation cases.

According to a circular issued by the government, it plans to offer a rebate of half of all the pending traffic fines to ensure that more people are freed of fines.

How to Check Pending Challans Online

Motorists can easily verify whether they have any outstanding challans:

  1. Visit the Bangalore Traffic Police Website.

  2. Click on Pay Traffic Fine.

  3. Enter your registered mobile number and OTP.

  4. Provide your vehicle registration number and search.

  5. The portal will display the challan details, which can be paid online.

Payment Options: Paytm and KarnatakaOne Centres

Apart from the BTP website, fines can also be paid through:

  • Paytm Mobile App: Users can go to Bill Payments → Challan → Bangalore Traffic Police, enter challan/vehicle details, and pay using UPI, cards, or net banking.

  • KarnatakaOne Centres: Citizens can visit any centre with their challan notice and settle dues directly.

Helmet Rule Remains Strict in Bengaluru

The Bangalore Traffic Police has reinstated that helmets are to be worn both by the rider and the rider-passenger and a chin-strap is mandatory for those above the age of four years.

According to Section 129 of the MV Act, violators are fined 500 rupees and a three-month suspension of their license. Nonetheless, the Sikhs with turbans are exempt from this.

Conclusion

Since the waiver is only rendered till September 15, 2025, vehicle owners are encouraged to utilize the scheme to pay half of the cost of their dues. It is hoped that the initiative will improve compliance and give much-needed relief to motorists across Karnataka.
