The eagerly anticipated movie, Kalki 2898 AD, has finally premiered in theatres, featuring a star-studded cast including Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Hassan. Among the standout characters is Bujji, a futuristic AI-powered electric vehicle, which has captured the audience's imagination. Bujji blends the wildly imaginative elements of Mad Max with the iconic world of Transformers, even attracting the attention of Anand Mahindra, Chairperson of Mahindra, who couldn't resist taking this futuristic vehicle out for a spin. Here’s everything you need to know about superstar Prabhas’ new ride.
Meet the Incredible Mr. Bujji
Sci-fi enthusiasts of Star Trek and Star Wars will feel right at home with Bujji's larger-than-life design. The vehicle boasts three gargantuan tires, two in the front and one spherical at the rear, complemented by an all-glass dome, ensuring an unparalleled road presence. Bujji’s impressive stature is further accentuated by its bulging biceps, with the front two 34.5-inch tires made by Ceat, while the alloy wheels are specially imported.
Powered by twin electric motors, this rear-wheel-drive beast has a total power output of 126 bhp (94 kW) and an astonishing 9,800 Nm of torque. This figure is no typo; it's truly mind-boggling. The heart of Bujji is a 47 kWh battery pack featuring battery swapping technology.
Bujji's Dimensions
Bujji measures 6,075 mm in length, 3,380 mm in width, and 2,186 mm in height. This makes the EV sci-fi vehicle over 500mm longer than the limousine Mercedes-Benz Maybach S-Class, nearly as wide as two Toyota Fortuner, and towering over the Toyota Land Cruiser.
The Origin of Bujji
Nag Ashwin, the director of Kalki 2898 AD, expressed his gratitude to Mahindra and Jayem Automotives for their pivotal role in bringing Bujji to life. The collaborative efforts of engineers from Mahindra Research Valley and Jayem were instrumental in constructing this formidable machine. Consequently, the twin electric motors powering Bujji are supplied by Mahindra.
