Jaguar India Will Be No Longer Taking Orders For Its I Pace

Jaguar India will be no longer taking orders for its I-Pace

Jaguar India has delisted its I-pace model from its website which certainly means that for India, you cannot place an order for I-pace. It can be said that Jaguar has removed its all-electric SUV from the market. Earlier we also witnessed the F-Type sportscar global production come to an end. With these changes, Jaguar now offers only one model in India ie.the F-Pace SUV. Let’s find out the reason and prospects of Jaguar for India:

The I-Pace: Jaguar’s First and Only EV in India

The I-Pace was Jaguar's pioneering electric vehicle in India. Launched in 2021, it was the second luxury electric SUV in the market, priced around Rs 1 crore. This model aimed to compete with other luxury electric SUVs like the Audi e-tron and Mercedes EQC. However, unlike its competitors, the I-Pace did not receive any significant updates during its three years on the market. Although the I-Pace is still available in international markets, it is expected to be phased out soon as Jaguar prepares to launch a new wave of electric vehicles globally starting in 2025.

Poor Sales Performance in FY2024

In the fiscal year 2024, Jaguar managed to sell only 31 units of the I-Pace in India. This figure is significantly lower than the segment leader, the BMW iX, which sold 738 units. The I-Pace featured a 90kWh battery pack and dual electric motors, delivering 400 horsepower and 696Nm of torque. In real-world driving conditions, which included a mix of city and highway driving, the I-Pace offered a range of about 410 kilometers.

Strengths and Weaknesses of the I-Pace

Despite its low sales, the I-Pace was praised for its stunning design and enjoyable driving experience, which was a major attraction for buyers. However, it had some drawbacks. The I-Pace was not as spacious, practical, or comfortable as some of its rivals. Additionally, many basic features were offered as optional extras, which was a downside considering its high price tag.

The End of the F-Type Era

Jaguar has also stopped producing the F-Type sports car globally, and it is no longer available in India. The F-Type was introduced in India in July 2013 as a convertible, initially with V6 and V8 engines. A coupe version followed a year later, and in 2018, a more affordable 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine was added to the lineup. The F-Type received a mid-life facelift in 2020, refreshing its design and features.

Looking Ahead: New Wave of Jaguar EVs from 2025

With the I-Pace and F-Type no longer available, Jaguar is focusing on its future electric vehicle lineup. Starting from 2025, Jaguar plans to introduce a new wave of electric vehicles globally. This shift aligns with the automotive industry's broader move towards sustainable and eco-friendly transportation solutions.

In the final analysis, Jaguar's decision to delist the I-Pace and discontinue the F-Type marks a significant transition for the brand in India. While the I-Pace set the stage for luxury electric SUVs in the country, it struggled to keep up with its competitors in terms of updates and sales. The F-Type, a beloved sports car, has reached the end of its production run. Looking forward, Jaguar is gearing up for a new era of electric vehicles, promising exciting developments in the coming years. This transition highlights the brand's commitment to innovation and sustainability in the evolving automotive landscape.
