Indian Citroen C3 Aircross Not As Premium As European Mode Differences Explained

Indian Citroen C3 Aircross not as premium as European mode? Differences Explained

Since its September 2023 premiere in India, the Citroen C3 Aircross has garnered attention as a flexible small SUV. It costs between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 14.11 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and has adjustable seating options in both 5- and 7-seater combinations. Now that the C3 Aircross has also been released in Europe, there are clear distinctions in terms of features and design, even though it has certain similarities to the Indian model. We'll go over the main distinctions between the Citroen C3 Aircross built in Europe and India here.

Enhanced Exterior Design

In comparison to the Indian variant, the Citroen C3 Aircross's European version has a more upscale and fashionable look. With its all-LED lighting system, more streamlined grille, and sharper design elements, the SUV's front has a distinctive shape and an elegant appearance. While the 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels are standard on both variants, the European version's wheel design has been altered to provide a more refined appearance. The European version also has a newly designed rear bumper and the most recent Citroen emblem on the front and rear profiles.

Luxurious Interior

The interior design is one of the biggest distinctions between the two models. It is instantly apparent that the Europe-spec C3 Aircross has a luxurious feel to its cabin. The European model's dashboard and console are completely different from the American one, even though the central display may look familiar.

It has a streamlined central console, side AC vents that are more elegant and sleeker, a redesigned 2-spoke steering wheel that does not sit in front of a conventional instrument cluster, and piano black and silver accents. Nevertheless, the European model also has cloth upholstery, the same as the Indian version.

Expanded Features

The Indian version of the Citroen C3 Aircross lacks several of the features seen in the European model. The European model has certain exclusive features, such as electrically folding exterior rearview mirrors with heating capabilities, auto climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and wireless phone charging. It has a heads-up display as well. A 10.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility is shared by both versions; however, the European version's other features make it a more appealing combination.

Enhanced Safety Features

The Europe-spec C3 Aircross outperforms its Indian cousin in the field of safety as well. Six airbags, blind spot recognition, rain-sensing wipers, and front and side parking sensors are standard on the European model. It also has many advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS), including traffic sign recognition, lane-keep assist, and driver attentiveness warning. For clients in Europe, these features offer a higher level of ease and safety.

Various Engine Choices, Including an EV

The European Citroen C3 Aircross comes with two different powertrain options: a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 100 horsepower mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, and another 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 136 horsepower mated to a dual-clutch automatic transmission with 48V mild hybrid technology.

Notably, the European version is the first to offer an all-electric version, limited to a 5-seater capacity. With a 113 PS electric motor, the 44 kWh battery pack of the C3 Aircross EV is expected to have a range of more than 300 km. An upgraded model with a 400 km range is anticipated to be released in 2025. In contrast, a competitor of comparable size, the MG ZS EV, has a 177 PS motor and a 50.3 kWh battery with a range of over 400 km.

In summary, Superior safety systems, and a range of powertrain options, including an electric version and a premium style set the European Citroen C3 Aircross apart. These variations demonstrate Citroen's approach of customizing features and styles to suit local tastes to appeal to a variety of markets.

Even though it is less expensive, the India-spec variant might use a few of the high-end features included in the European model. It will be interesting to watch how Citroen updates and adjusts its products to suit the needs of diverse markets worldwide as the automotive landscape continues to change. The possible release of the C3 Aircross EV may be a noteworthy development for Indian consumers to keep an eye on in the upcoming years.
