Hyundai Verna The Best Selling Mid Size Sedan In India

Hyundai Verna: The Best-Selling Mid-Size Sedan in India

The car industry, in India has transformed with SUVs emerging as the choice for consumers accounting for more than half of the market. This surge in SUV demand has led to a decline in sedan sales, which now make up more than 10% of the market share. The mid-size sedan category in particular has faced challenges witnessing a decrease, in its sales figures.

Drop in Sales of Sedans

The mid-size sedan market suffered a 25.91% fall in sales from January to May 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). Sales decreased to 31,421 units from 42,407 units. There are still a few standout models in this class despite the decline, such as the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Slavia, Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and Volkswagen Virtus.

Hyundai Verna: Top of the Market

The Hyundai Verna is now India's best-selling mid-size car, despite a general drop in sedan sales. Since its premiere in March 2023, the sixth-generation Verna has changed the game. With 8,520 units sold between January and May 2024, the Verna was the top option for many Indian consumers.

Rivals and Their Revenue

Several sedans are fighting for market share, but the Hyundai Verna is at the top of the pack. With 8,150 sold, the Volkswagen Virtus follows closely behind. Following in order of production are the Skoda Slavia (6,419 units), Honda City (5,301 units), and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz (3,031 units). These figures demonstrate that even while Verna is in the lead, there is still fierce competition.

Specifications and Cost of the Hyundai Verna

The Verna's popularity can be attributed in part to its generous feature set and affordable price. The Verna is available for between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 17.42 lakh (ex-showroom), with two engine choices. Both an intelligent variable transmission (IVT) and a 6-speed manual transmission (MT) are available for the 1.5-liter MPi petrol engine, which produces 115 horsepower and 143.8 Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) can be used with the more potent 1.5-liter Turbo GDi petrol engine, which produces 160PS and 253Nm of torque.

Elegant Style with Cutting-Edge Functionalities

The design of the Hyundai Verna is sleek and contemporary. It has a connected parametric LED taillamp system, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), a dark chrome parametric grille, and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The Verna has an elegant and refined design thanks to these components.

The Verna is similarly stunning inside. It includes a heated and ventilated front seat, a power-adjustable driver seat, and a switchable digital infotainment and climate control panel. The vehicle has a digital cluster featuring a color TFT multi-information display (MID), a 10.25-inch high-definition audio-video navigation system, a 64-color ambient lighting system, and an eight-speaker Bose sound system. An electric sunroof is another innovation that elevates the driving experience in the Verna.

Overall, The Hyundai Verna's popularity, in the. The sedan category showcases its attractive blend of style, features, and performance. Despite the increasing preference for SUVs in India the Verna has established a position for itself. Its wide array of features, competitive pricing, and impressive sales figures highlight the enduring demand for crafted sedans in today's market. With the evolving landscape Verna's versatility in accommodating the preferences of consumers is expected to maintain its lead, in the size sedan segment.
