In August 2025, Hyundai Motor India registered a sale of 44,001 units, which was an 11 per cent decrease compared to sales of 49,525 units in August 2024. Massive buying of the drop is also down to the influence of the GST 2.0, which has triggered deferral buying amongst buyers due to the promise of a cost reduction.
On a month-on-month basis, however, sales were steady and they were marginally higher than the 43,973 units that were sold in July 2025. Hyundai held a market share of 13.4% with this output, which was slightly less than the 14.0% aspect last year.
Creta and Venue Taking the Lead
The Hyundai Creta was the highest-selling model since it sold 15,925 units in August 2025. This was a 5 per cent YoY fall, but still top among its products. The Hyundai SUV is the winning model and the third-selling car in India as a whole.
Hyundai Venue followed, strengthened by sales amounting to 8,109 units and a YoY change of -11% and a marginal MoM increase of 1%. Another opportunity that may help restart the sub-compact SUV market is that the company is already planning to release the new-generation Venue next month.

Aura Glories with Ten Per cent Expansion
The Hyundai Aura compact sedan was incredibly resilient, unlike the SUVs. Sales had gone up by 24 per cent YoY to 5,336 units, and made a good 15 per cent growth month-to-month. It has been observed that the Aura SX trim that was updated recently with additional features has hit it well with the buyers despite increased prices in terms of margin.

Hatchbacks and Other Models
The hatchback peculiarity, such as the Grand i10 (3,908 units) and i20 (3,634 units), had to cope with 27% and 26% decrease in YOY, respectively. Nevertheless, both models had a positive MoM growth of 10% and 7% respectively, which shows that demand was recovering to some extent.
In the meantime, the Alcazar has registered 1,187, which is not more than July but up YoY. The Verna sedan has not fared much better, with only 771 units, which represents a steep fall in units.

Electric Models and Premium SUVs
The electric portfolio, which was spearheaded by Creta EV and Ioniq 5, experienced mixed fortunes. Although the Creta EV helped keep up with the dominance of the SUV, Ionicq 5 fell to only 14 units, a 65 per cent and 44 per cent increase year over year and month over month, respectively.
Even high luxury SUVs also had their problems to deal with- the sales of the Hyundai Tucson reduced by 54 per cent YoY to 57 units. Nonetheless, Tucson consumers will enjoy the largest price capability of up to Rs. 2.39 lakh of the top-trim Signature Diesel AWD trim under the new GST 2.0 engine.
