Car buyers are among the beneficiaries of the GST 2.0 reform initiated by the government. The entry-level SUV by Hyundai, the Exter, is getting much attention from buyers due to this particular tax reform.
The car maker has transferred the entire benefit of the tax cut to its consumers. As a result, prices of the Exter have fallen to a range between Rs. 5.68 lakh and Rs. 9.24 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant.
Reductions have been Implemented Across Variants
Every variant of the Exter has gone down in price. The base model Exter EX was previously priced at Rs. 6 lakh. Now the variant is available at Rs. 5.68 lakh, delivering a Rs. 31,867 saving.
The middle trims, such as the S Smart and S+, have decreased by approximately Rs. 65,000 to Rs. 68,000, which means that they are now similarly priced to the premium hatchbacks while still having the SUV features and styling.
Soon, the automatic variants will become easier to buy. The price of the SX Tech AMT has been slashed by Rs. 78,720, making it Rs. 8.44 lakh. One of the biggest reductions, of Rs. 84,066, among the top trims is for the SX(O) AMT, whose ex-showroom price has reached Rs. 9.01 lakh, as a result of this cut.
CNG Variants
Moreover, the CNG-powered Exter variants, which are the best choice for buyers who are particularly concerned with the running costs, are not left untouched by the tax cut.
The EX Dual CNG has decreased in price by Rs. 64,043; thus, the SX Tech Dual CNG is the most lowered with a drop of Rs. 81,721, and is now at Rs. 8.76 lakh. Consequently, the CNG range is very attractive for town commuters.
Reinforcing Its Presence in the Market
On the one hand, the Hyundai Exter has been a tough competitor in the market for the Tata Punch, Maruti Fronx, and Citroën C3. On the other hand, it seems that with the new prices, Hyundai has gotten even closer to customers, which is reflected in the increased appeal of the Exter.
As the timing of the cuts is also very convenient—which is just before the festival period, which is usually the strongest car sales period in India—this can positively affect the car sales that incorporate this model.
Conclusion
Hyundai has made the Exter more affordable, and feature richness are even more apparent in the sub-4 metre SUV category by completely transferring the GST 2.0 advantages to consumers. As a result, this initiative goes beyond merely increasing customer savings to highlighting the automaker’s stronghold in the Indian car market's highly competitive segment.
