Hyundai December 2025 Sales: EV Demand Grows, Creta Leads

With consistent sales of 42,416 units at the end of December 2025, Hyundai Motor India demonstrated nearly flat growth over the preceding year. Hatchbacks and several high-end models showed a decline in demand, while the Creta SUV led the field, followed by Venue, Exter, and Aura. Interest in EVs is growing, as seen by the impressive growth of the IONIQ 5 electric SUV. Hyundai aims to improve its lineup in 2026 by introducing new models and updating existing ones, as the company's performance across categories has been inconsistent.

  • With EV and ICE models dominating the list, the Creta continued to be the best-selling vehicle.

  • With inconsistent outcomes across the model range, growth was stagnant year over year.

With a flat year-over-year performance, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) ended December 2025 with total domestic sales of 42,416 units, about the same as 42,208 units sold in December 2024.

The month-over-month comparison reveals a 16% decline from November 2025, despite the fact that this indicates stability in a competitive market. During the month, Hyundai's share of the Indian passenger car market was approximately 10.5%.

Creta Still Dominates the Charts

The ever-popular Creta and its electric version, which together sold 13,154 units in December, were at the top of Hyundai's sales records. Even though sales were down roughly 24% from November, this represented a 4% rise year over year. The SUV is still a major component of Hyundai's sales, which confirms its appeal to Indian consumers.

Exter, Momentum, and Venue Maintain

With 10,322 units, the Venue compact SUV placed second, demonstrating a modest 1% year-over-year increase as a result of its most recent revisions.

At 5,612 and 4,925 units, respectively, the Exter micro-SUV and Aura sedan both reported acceptable numbers and showed a strong year-over-year increase. These findings demonstrate consistent consumer interest in several Hyundai product categories.

Problems with Premium Models and Hatchbacks

In December, not every model saw an increase. Sales of the Grand i10 Nios and i20 hatchbacks decreased both annually and monthly, while the Alcazar SUV and Verna sedan witnessed significant drops.

The problems Hyundai faces in non-SUV sectors and changing consumer choices are highlighted by these lower results.

Demand for EVs Increases

The IONIQ 5 electric SUV was a standout model in the portfolio, selling 69 units in December compared to 24 units a year earlier, an amazing 188% year-over-year increase. This implies that even though the Indian EV sector is still in its infancy, Hyundai's electric products are becoming more popular.

Hyundai intends to update a number of models and launch new cars in 2026, which may further influence how well it performs in India's quickly changing automotive market.
