While electric cars may face glitches and safety concerns at times traditional internal combustion engine vehicles also encounter their share of issues. A recent incident shared by a user, on the forum Team BHP sheds light on a problem experienced with the gearbox functionality of the Tata Nexon DCA. This situation underscores the vulnerabilities that can arise in internal combustion engine vehicles.
Tata Nexon DCA. Addressing Gearbox Challenges; While traveling from Murudeshwar to Bangalore the Tata Nexon unexpectedly shifted into mode after covering 130 km. Adding to the complexity the accelerator pedal stopped responding. In a twist of a sci-fi tale, the user attempted to troubleshoot by powering down and restarting the Nexon. Eventually, they successfully re-engaged the gearbox into 'Drive' mode.

Revealing Vehicle Quirks; However, things took a turn for the worse as the Nexon began switching between drive modes reverting back to neutral without warning. With caution, the user guided the vehicle to a stop, by the roadside. Despite trying methods they could not resolve the issue.
When I reached out to the showroom where I got my Nexon they directed me to a toll helpline. Eventually, my car was towed to the service center, for checks and fixes.
Tata Motors Response; After an inspection, they found issues with the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) and ABS systems in my Nexon. They informed me about the problem. Said they needed ten days to get the necessary parts and fix it. Tata Motors decided to replace the gearbox, which cost Rs 3.5 lakh after discussing it with me. They plan to investigate the root cause of the issue after completing the repairs for reference.
Industry Feedback; It's interesting that gearbox problems are not unique to Tata Nexon. Recently Kia and Hyundai had recalls for Seltos, Verna, and Creta models due to gearbox issues. Although these problems affected units what happened with Tata Nexon serves as a reminder to be vigilant about investigating anomalies further.
The automotive industry is complex. Calls, for diligence, actions, and continuous innovation to effectively deal with potential challenges.
