6 Upcoming Compact Cars in India to Attend Fully ICE

India’s compact car market is set for a major refresh as Maruti, Hyundai, Tata, Renault, and Nissan gear up for fresh ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) launches. From smart hybrids to facelifts and CNG variants, here are the top 6 upcoming compact cars you should watch out for.

This segment even carries a great deal of excitement ahead as the major brands like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, Renault, and Nissan are all set to come up with a mass number of new cars over the next few months.

Here are some possible future ICE offerings from us:

1. Maruti Suzuki Fronx Smart Hybrid:

Maruti Suzuki seems to have big plans for an upcoming hybrid version of the Fronx, probably to appear by late 2025 or early 2026. The development makes it look like a sighting of a test mule recently, indicating progress on the development front. The setup will be expected to pair the 1.2-liter Z12E petrol engine with a smart hybrid system in a similar way to the new Dzire hybrid does in the Philippines.

2. Nissan B-MPV

Nissan is developing a new budget-friendly B-segment MPV, expected to be based on the Renault Triber’s platform. The model aims to blend affordability with modern styling and practical space, following Nissan’s global design cues. It’s being heavily localized for the Indian market, with production likely at the Renault-Nissan plant near Chennai. Launch is expected by late 2025.

3. Magnite CNG

Alongside the B-MPV, Nissan is preparing a CNG-powered variant of its popular compact SUV, the Magnite. The Magnite CNG will cater to buyers seeking an economical, low-running-cost SUV alternative, offering the same urban-friendly design and practicality, but with enhanced fuel efficiency through factory-fitted CNG. The launch could happen within the same timeline as the B-MPV.

4. Renault Kiger Facelift

The Renault Kiger facelift is getting very close to being ready to launch, considering there are all these extremely camouflaged test mules which seem to be out and around on a regular basis. There will be very minor visible styling changes, but we expect much more tech fallout in the cabin. More features will definitely get added, while it might start under the cylinder outdoors.

5. All-New Venue of Hyundai

It is likely that the new Venue will first roll out before the year ends by Hyundai, all decked in revamped style and redesigned cabin layout. The augmented feature list in this compact SUV will further escalate the safety credentials, as it may also include Level 2 ADAS. The engine lineup is expected to be pretty much the same, although a couple of feature upgrades are on the cards.

6. Tata Altroz Facelift

There have been several sightings of camouflaged test vehicles, indicating that Tata is working on a refreshed Altroz. Likely to become available soon, the update will likely introduce mild design changes as well as a handful of additional features. The powertrain lineup will remain unchanged with 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines.
