2026 Mercedes S-Class Facelift Reveal: 2,700 New Parts and updates

The 2026 Mercedes‑Benz S-Class facelift combines elegance, cutting-edge technology, and refined powertrains. With illuminated star-themed lights, a high-tech MBUX Superscreen, MB.OS software and an upgraded hybrid, the refreshed sedan strengthens its position as the ultimate benchmark for luxury, comfort, and innovation

  • The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is set to make its global debut in facelifted form on January 29, 2026.

  • With over 2,700 new or updated components and autonomous driving readiness, the refreshed flagship signals a major step forward for the brand’s luxury sedan.

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that its flagship S-Class sedan facelift will make its global debut on January 29, 2026, marking one of the most significant updates to the luxury model in recent years. Seen as the benchmark for automotive comfort, technology and safety, the refreshed S-Class is expected to continue its long tradition of redefining what a flagship luxury sedan offers.

Exterior: The "Star" Treatment

The updated S‑Class retains the elegant proportions of the current W223 generation but introduces a series of design refinements. The front grille has been redesigned with a revised three‑pointed star motif and illuminated outline, giving the sedan a stronger street presence. Headlamps and tail‑lamps now feature distinctive star‑shaped LED signatures, creating a unique lighting identity that enhances both day and night appeal.

Mercedes has also reworked the bumpers and introduced new alloy wheel designs to freshen the overall appearance without departing from the model’s classic silhouette.

Interior: The MB.OS Revolution

Inside, the facelifted S‑Class makes a significant technological leap with the introduction of the Mercedes‑Benz Operating System (MB.OS) - a fully in‑house software platform.

The cabin continues to emphasise luxury and comfort, particularly for rear‑seat passengers. Features such as multi‑way adjustable seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions, as well as four‑zone climate control and premium ambient lighting, are expected to be carried over and further refined in the facelifted model.

Powertrain and Availability

While official powertrain details have not been fully revealed, the facelift is expected to retain the current lineup of mild‑hybrid petrol and diesel engines paired with a 9‑speed automatic transmission. Mercedes‑Benz has emphasised that mechanical changes are limited, with the focus instead on comfort, digital sophistication and luxury refinement.

Following its global debut, the updated S‑Class is expected to go on sale in select markets throughout 2026, with an India launch anticipated towards the end of the year or in early 2027.
