Functions of Jabalpur RTO

RTOs across India perform a variety of different functions. Some of them are listed below:

Issue of learner?s licence and driving licence: to learn driving you need a learner?s licence and to drive a vehicle you need a driving licence, you can apply for them through Jabalpur RTO. If you want to drive for commercial purposes, then you have to apply for a commercial driving licence and a driving permit.

Granting driving permit: to drive commercially, you have to apply for appropriate permits The RTO office in Jabalpur has the authority to grant such permits in its jurisdiction.

Issue/ reissue of Registration certificate: it is mandatory for you as a vehicle owner to

How to Register a Vehicle at Jabalpur RTO

When you purchase a new vehicle from the dealer (i.e.) when you are the first owner of the vehicle, it must be registered through the RTO Office Jabalpur. This is how the vehicle and owner details are added to the RTO records.

Dealer provides registration certificate on purchase of a new vehicle by enrolling through Online dealer Point Registration Process, once you submit the required documents

Documents required to apply for Registration Certificate.

  1. Duly filled up Form 20[Imprint of chassis no and engine number should be taken on this form).

  2. Form 21 (Sale certificate) issued by dealer.

  3. Form 22 (Road worthiness certificate) given by the manufacturer.

  4. Valid vehicle insurance policy (attested copy)

  5. Address proof (attested copy) at which vehicle is to be registered. (Driving licence, Aadhaar card etc)

  6. Form 34 signed by the owner and the financer.

  7. One time road tax (as applicable)

  8. Prescribed registration fees.

  9. PAN Card or Form 60 and 61 (as applicable).

  10. Dealer manufacturer invoice

Note: RC is valid throughout india and it is issued for 15 years for private (non commercial vehicles)

For commercial vehicles:

  • Reach the Registering Authority RTO Office Jabalpur.

  • The physical presence of your vehicle is mandatory

  • After a thorough inspection, the inspecting authority issues a clearance certificate for registration.

How to Renew Registration for a Vehicle at Jabalpur RTO

As per Central Motor Vehicles Act, re-registration of a vehicle becomes mandatory, 15 years after the original registration takes place, after which the vehicle should be re-registered every 5 years. This continues as long as the RTO considers the vehicle roadworthy.

  • Submit an application for Renewal of Certificate of Registration (Form 25) 60 days before the Registration certificate expires

  • For private vehicles, the expiry happens in 15 years

  • Any tax dues must be paid

  • Pay the appropriate fees to register authority (based on Rule 81 of central motor vehicle rules 1989)

  • Submit the required documents listed below

    • Original Registration Certificate.

    • Certificate of Pollution Under Control.

    • Insurance Certificate

    • Up to date Road tax receipts

    • Signature identification of vehicle owner

How to Transfer Vehicle Ownership at Jabalpur RTO

When you sell your vehicle to someone else, or when you buy a used vehicle for yourself, vehicle transfer ownership becomes necessary. It is basically updating the RC with the present owner's details. This is done through the process of RC Reissue. This should be done everything when the vehicle owner changes either through trade or succession.

For transferring vehicle ownership you must apply through Form 29 (in Duplicate) and Form 30 ((in Duplicate in case of Finance, Hire Purchase or Lease)

Use forms 30 and 31, if transferring of vehicle ownership is because of inheritance

You have to pay Rs 150 for two-wheelers and Rs. 300 for cars. ( this can be subject to change)

  1. Registration certificate.

  2. Insurance certificate.

  3. Certificate of no objection(in case of Other State Vehicle)

  4. Certificate of no objection from Financier( if Vehicle is Covered by Finance)

  5. Certificate of Pollution Under Control.

  6. Residence proof.

  7. Affidavit for the purchase/sale of vehicles from the seller/buyer.
