The City offers a comfortable and stylish ride, making it suitable for various lifestyles. Whether you prioritize a classy appearance or high-tech amenities, the Honda City delivers. Overall, it's a well-rounded package that caters to the needs of a wide range of drivers, making it a wise investment in the world of sedans.

Honda City: Take a Closer Look Before Purchasing It

Honda Cars India has finally launched the latest version of its beloved sedan, the 2023 Honda City, with an introductory price of Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model comes packed with various new features, smashing exterior looks, mechanical enhancements, and more. Here are the top 8 things you should know before purchasing the Honda City.

Honda City Design

Design-wise, the recently updated grille on the top-end trims of the Honda City boasts an attractive honeycomb pattern. While the Honda City base models feature vertical slats thereby making the car's design truly eye-catching. The mid-sized sedan boasts sporty and elegant exterior features, including an updated chin, updated alloys, a carbon fiber-wrapped diffuser, new 16-inch alloy wheels, and a boot-lid integrated spoiler. The bumper at the front and rear end have been re-designed. The LED taillamps have been updated. The top-end variants get a sporty appeal, while the other trims offer a subtle design.

Honda City Interior

The interior of the Honda City has minimal changes but offers new features like ambient lighting, rain-sensing wipers, a wireless charger, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, Honda has included Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in regular petrol variants, which was earlier only available with the hybrid model. The dashboard gets a carbon fibre pattern, an updated infotainment unit, and a rear camera resolution.

Honda City Features

One of the most significant updates is the inclusion of Honda Sensing technology, an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) functionality, in the petrol-powered models. The safety feature list includes Lane Departure Warning with Road Departure Mitigation System, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lead Car Departure Notification System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, and Auto High Beam. Honda Sensing, which was previously limited to top-end trims, is now included as a standard feature starting from the V trim level. This means that the City petrol sedan is the first in its segment to offer ADAS functionality.

Honda City Specifications

Mechanically, the 2023 City remains unchanged. It is now RDE-compliant and can run on E20 fuel. Honda has discontinued the diesel mill. Having said that, the 2023 Honda City draws its power from a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 119 bhp of total power and 145 Nm peak torque. Transmission duty is taken care of by a 6-speed MT and a CVT. On the contrary, the e:HEV City is equipped with a 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle gasoline hybrid engine and two electric motors that work together to produce a total power output of 124 bhp and a peak torque of 253 Nm. The petrol manual offers a fun driving experience with iVTEC, while the CVT petrol is more suitable for relaxed driving. The e:HEV, with its excellent fuel efficiency and good performance, is a sensible and unique option. Although the NVH levels are quite comfortable. But during the drive mode transition, the e:HEV can get a little loud.

Honda City Mileage

The petrol engine boasts an exceptional fuel efficiency of 18.4 km/l, making it an ideal choice for both city and highway driving. On the other hand, the hybrid system offers a maximum power output of 93 kW (126 PS), providing a seamless acceleration experience. The City Hybrid stands out for its exceptional fuel efficiency, with an impressive 27.13 kmpl and emitting only 89.5 gpkm CO2, earning it a well-deserved reputation. With a fuel tank capacity of 40 litres, the Honda Two-Motor Electric-Hybrid system delivers a whopping 253 Nm of torque.

Honda City Variants & Price

The new 2023 Honda City is available in four trim levels - SV, V, VX, and ZX with prices ranging from Rs 11.49 lakh to Rs 15.97 lakh (ex-showroom). The Honda City e:HEV is available in two variants - V and VX and they are priced at Rs 18.89 lakh and Rs 20.39 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.

Honda City Color Options

Furthermore, the sedan is now available in a new Obsidian Blue Pearl paint scheme, along with other colour variants like Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic, and Meteoroid Grey Metallic.

Honda City Rivals

The 2023 Honda City competes with other mid-size sedans like the new-gen Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

Conclusion

Overall, the 2023 Honda City is an exciting addition to Honda's lineup, with its new designs, updated features, and advanced technology, offering a smooth and comfortable ride for car enthusiasts in India. The vehicle presents enhancements and advancements compared to its pre-facelift iteration. Each of the three models caters to specific daily driving requirements, showcasing individual strengths. The mid-sized sedan retains its practical and aspirational purchase allure for middle-class Indian households, accompanied by fresh design and feature upgrades that exude a sense of sophistication and sportiness.
