Volvo EX30 Spied Testing Ahead of India Launch

The Volvo EX30, which is the smallest and most affordable electric SUV by the brand, was spotted being tested in India ahead of its launch next month on the Jaipur- Delhi Highway. EX30 plans to offer a premium yet accessible entry into Volvo’s all-electric lineup.

Volvo EX30

The Volvo EX30 will be launched in India next month (August 2025). Ahead of its launch, a fully camouflaged EX30 was spotted on the Jaipur-Delhi highway. This is the first time the EX30 was seen being tested in India, most likely being fine-tuned for the Indian road conditions.

The EX30, locally assembled at Volvo’s Hoskote plant near Bengaluru, is expected to be priced under ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom). The EX30 will be the most compact and affordable EV from Volvo in India and will be joining the brand’s electric lineup alongside the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge.

Battery, Range, and Platform Details

Globally, the EX30 comes with two battery options:

  • 51kWh LFP battery with 342 km range

  • 69kWh NMC battery with 474 km WLTP range

The Indian model is expected to get the 69kWh battery pack. The Volvo EX30 is built on Geely’s SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform, providing it with scalability and flexibility.

The final variant details and confirmed specifications for India are to be revealed at launch in August 2025.

Design, Features, and Expected Price

Exterior design closely follows the global model, which is a sleek and aerodynamic design that boosts efficiency while giving the SUV a bold, modern road presence.

  • Thor’s Hammer LED headlights

  • C-shaped split LED taillights

  • Blacked-out roof

  • Flushed door handles

  • Aerodynamic alloy wheels

  • Design inspired by Volvo’s larger EVs like the EX90

The inside provides a clean, minimalist cabin that enhances focus, comfort, and sustainability through a smart layout.

Expected interior features are as follows:

  • 12.3-inch vertically oriented touchscreen

  • Minimalist cabin with recycled materials

  • Google-based infotainment system

  • Sleek digital instrument cluster

  • New steering wheel design

Volvo EX30 is expected to have the following safety and technological features, competing with models like the BMW iX1 LWB in the compact luxury EV segment.

  • ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)

  • 360-degree camera

  • Multiple airbags

Concluding Take

With the EX30, Volvo is planning to bring a fresh, compact, and feature-rich electric SUV to the Indian market. As the brand’s most affordable EV yet, it allows one to experience Volvo’s premium electric mobility without compromising on quality or comfort. Thus, creating a buzz ahead of its launch in August 2025.
