Volkswagen Teases Lower-Spec Tayron Before July 10 Launch

Volkswagen has released a teaser of the upcoming lower-spec, non-R-Line Tayron SUV, revealing new alloy wheels, a dual-tone cabin and R-Line-inspired lighting, ahead of its confirmed India launch on July 10, 2026, expected to be priced below the current range-topping variant.

  • Volkswagen has revealed teaser visuals of the upcoming lower-spec Tayron SUV.

  • The model is confirmed to launch in India on July 10, 2026.

Volkswagen has pulled the wraps off a teaser video showing the lower-spec version of its Tayron SUV, confirming that the model will officially go on sale in India on July 10, 2026.

Until now, the Tayron has only been sold in the country in a single, fully loaded R-Line trim, priced at Rs 46.99 lakh, ex-showroom. This latest reveal backs up earlier reports suggesting that a more affordable variant of the SUV was on its way to Indian showrooms.

What The Teaser Reveals About The Lower-Spec Tayron

Design Elements Borrow Cues From The R-Line, With A Few Tweaks

The teaser clip gives buyers their first proper look at how the entry-level Tayron will differ from its pricier sibling. Up front, the headlamp cluster looks similar to what is seen on the R-Line, with projector LED units, a connected light bar and a Volkswagen badge that lights up.

However, the grille and bumper design have not been shown yet, and both are likely to be styled in a simpler, more understated manner compared with the sportier R-Line.

Around the side, the SUV wears a fresh set of alloy wheels, though Volkswagen has not confirmed their size. As a point of reference, the range-topping R-Line rides on 19-inch wheels.

Gloss-black cladding around the wheel arches and on the roof rails also features in the clip, while the rear gets connected LED tail lamps along with an illuminated badge, again mirroring the front. Like the grille, the rear bumper is expected to carry a distinct design when compared with the R-Line.

Cabin Gets A Dual-Tone Treatment

Step inside, and the biggest change is immediately apparent. Where the R-Line sports an all-black cabin, this variant is finished in a dual-tone colour scheme. The layout otherwise appears familiar, with the same free-standing touchscreen infotainment unit and digital instrument cluster carried over from the range-topping model.

Other details visible in the teaser include blue ambient lighting, metal-finish pedals and a panoramic sunroof.

Volkswagen is yet to confirm the complete features list, though it would not be surprising if a few R-Line conveniences are left out to justify the lower asking price.

Expected Engine And Pricing

Same 204hp Engine Likely To Be Retained

Mechanically, the new variant is expected to draw power from the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine found in the R-Line, producing 204hp and 320Nm of torque. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox is also likely to be retained, sending power to all four wheels through an all-wheel-drive setup.

Given its positioning as a more accessible variant, Volkswagen is expected to price this Tayron below the R-Line's Rs 46.99 lakh sticker. Once launched, it will continue to lock horns with rivals such as the Skoda Kodiaq and the Jeep Meridian in the segment.
