In April 2024, Nissan Motor India disclosed its sales performance, with a focus on the Magnite subcompact SUV, the sole vehicle currently offered in the Indian market. Domestic wholesales for the Magnite stood at 2,404 units during the month, exhibiting a decline of more than 8% as compared to the 2,617 units sold in the same period last year.
Saurabh Vatsa, the Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, emphasized the company's unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction and expressed satisfaction with the positive beginning to the fiscal year. Vatsa also highlighted the recent expansion of their dealership network in regions such as New Delhi and Durgapur, underscoring their efforts to enhance accessibility and offer exceptional automotive experiences across diverse geographies. He credited the collaborative efforts of the teams and dealers for the steady performance and expressed optimism about attracting new customers to expand the Nissan family, ultimately boosting their presence in the competitive B SUV segment.
Despite the domestic sales dip, Nissan observed a marginal growth in export numbers for April 2024. The company exported 639 vehicles from India, which includes the popular Sunny sedan. This export figure marked a 1% increase compared to the 362 units exported in April 2023. Combining domestic and export figures, Nissan's consolidated sales in April 2024 amounted to 3,043 units, indicating a 6% decline from the 3,249 units sold in the corresponding month the previous year.
Noteworthy achievements for Nissan include the consistent monthly sales performance with a single-car model lineup and the remarkable success of the Magnite since its launch in December 2020. The company has achieved a milestone of selling 1 lakh Magnite units and pushing 30,000 units in exports, showcasing the model's popularity and acceptance in the Indian and overseas markets.
