Mahindra is busy preparing to gain more traction in the sub-compact SUV segment with the development of two models, Vision S and Vision X. The two vehicles will be below four metres in length but will have divergent body shapes.
The Vision X, a vehicle that has been displayed at the Freedom_NU event, is also being strongly hypothesized to be the model that will be seen as an inspiration to the next-generation XUV 3XO.
Design by Mahindra India Design Studio
The Vision X is designed at the Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS), Kandivali, Mumbai. The design team has finished it with a crossover-inspired stance with some muscle lines, taut contours and gloss black accents.
The side profile is aerodynamic with flush-fitting handles on the doors, giving this SUV a futuristic touch that does not seek to compromise functionality.
Exterior features - Beautiful and Space age
The front end of the Vision X is something quite impressive, a complicated air dam and grille design that could stand a bit of simplification in order to make it ready to be put in production.
A NU_IQ badge on the doors gives a feel of finesse, whereas the sleek ORVM-mounted cameras give it an air of sophistication. The rear comprises an integrated spoiler that gives the SUV a sportier finish although some observers compare it to the Suzuki eVX concept.
Premium Detailing and Strong Presence
With 19-inch aluminium alloy wheels clad with 235/50 section Pirelli P Zero tyres, the Vision X emits a serious road authority that is inherent in high-performance EVs.
The aggressive design is enhanced with a fine detailing like gloss black accents and sculpted surfaces, which makes the vehicle look rich and subtle at the same time.
What is an option?
Though Mahindra has not formally announced on whether the Vision X will directly translate into the next XUV 3XO, the concept reflects the intent the brand has on blending fashion, aerodynamics and technology in its future SUVs.
Although design cues are not much likely to see themselves in a production model, featuring even a fraction of them, the Vision X will have a shot at transforming the Mahindra sub-compact SUV market going forward.
