Tesla is reintroducing the Model Y Performance for the international market at the top of the lineup above a refreshed RWD and Long Range version of the model, now being referred to internally by Tesla as the Juniper update.
This new version pushes performance for a performance EV that also comes with the utility and goodness of the Model Y.
Sportier Looks and Aerodynamic
Like its Model Y Performance predecessors, the appearance is different from that of the Model Y with a redesigned bumper package that improves aerodynamics, a set of 21" Arachnid 2.0 wheels, a keyed colour rear carbon fibre spoiler and even red brake callipers.
In case you could not tell, the Y was a performance vehicle; it will be perceived as a sportbelt by visual stance improvements, but functionally, this is all basic aerodynamic improvements that maximise aerodynamics so you can slice through the wind much more efficiently. These additions are both visually appealing while also providing a more athletic appearance as the vehicle has a lower and wider riding stance.
New and Improved Interior - Premium Concept with Carname
Tesla added touches to the interior cabin design with subtle resiliency changes. You have premium carbon fibre design elements throughout the cabin, new 16" Ultra HD front infotainment options, and an enhanced display with incredible visuals.
Upgraded front seating for heating, cooling, and electric adjustments with added extended support for space with heating, cooling, electrical, and ergonomic features, with this Y arguably shaped for a driver-focused design.
Dual-Motor Power and Driving Dynamics
The real deal is underneath. The Model Y Performance is a dual-motor all-wheel-drive, developing just shy of 460bhp and 751Nm of torque, which means it can do 0–100 km/h in just over three seconds.
To help it handle all that power, Tesla has also given the SUV a fully adaptive suspension, reinforced chassis parts, and performance tires. So even when you get it's wriggling its back wheels, you will stress very little over stability and precision.
Availability
Delivery of the Model Y performance is likely to start in Europe before rolling out in the U.S. Tesla hasn't provided any indication for a launch in India, which eager buyers are waiting on.
