Tata Curvv Smart Variant Unveiled A Stylish And Affordable Entry Level Option

Tata Curvv Smart Variant Unveiled: A Stylish and Affordable Entry-Level Option

Tata Motors recently launched its much-anticipated SUV coupe, the Tata Curvv, with prices ranging from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 19 lakh (introductory ex-showroom, pan-India). This innovative offering is available in four broad variants: Smart, Pure Plus, Creative, and Accomplished. Among them, the base-spec Smart variant offers an attractive entry point for those looking to experience the bold design and features of the Curvv at an affordable price. Here's a detailed look at what the Smart variant offers.

Design and Exterior

Despite being the base model, the Tata Curvv Smart variant doesn’t skimp on style. Up front, it features LED headlights and LED DRLs, giving it a sleek and modern appearance. However, it omits fog lamps, which are present in higher variants. The Curvv's standout design element is its coupe-like sloping roofline, which distinguishes it in the competitive compact SUV market.

On the sides, the Smart variant comes with 16-inch steel wheels without covers, emphasizing its entry-level status. Flush-fitting illuminated door handles add a premium touch, while the turn indicators are neatly integrated into the ORVMs (outside rearview mirrors). At the rear, the base variant gets LED taillights, though these are not connected, unlike the more premium variants. Additionally, it lacks a rear defogger, shark-fin antenna, and silver skid plates on the bumper. The Smart variant is available in two colors: Pristine White and Daytona Gray.

Interior and Features

Inside, the Smart variant features a Nexon-inspired two-spoke steering wheel instead of the four-spoke unit found in higher variants. The cabin sports a black-and-grey theme with grey fabric upholstery. In line with its budget-friendly nature, Tata has excluded a music or infotainment system from this variant, but it does come equipped with a semi-digital driver’s display that includes a small multi-information display (MID) in the center.

Other convenience features include manual air conditioning, height-adjustable driver’s seat, tilt-adjustable steering, front cabin lamp, rear map lights, day/night IRVM, and all four power windows.

Safety and Powertrain

Safety remains a priority in the Curvv Smart variant, with six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and hill-hold assist, ensuring peace of mind on the road.

Under the hood, the Smart variant offers two powertrain options: a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-liter diesel engine, both borrowed from the Tata Nexon. The turbo-petrol engine produces 120 PS and 170 Nm of torque, while the diesel engine generates 118 PS and 260 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, with no DCT (dual-clutch automatic transmission) option for this variant.

Pricing and Competitors

The Tata Curvv Smart variant is priced at Rs 10 lakh for the turbo-petrol engine and Rs 11.50 lakh for the diesel engine. This stylish SUV-coupe takes on rivals like the Citroen Basalt and offers an alternative to compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Honda Elevate.

Overall, the Tata Curvv Smart variant presents a compelling option for buyers seeking an affordable yet stylish SUV coupe with essential features and strong safety credentials.
