Skoda hopes to increase brand presence in India with the launch of the Kodiaq SUV

Skoda India is aiming to reinforce its brand stature in the country with the all-new Kodiaq. The Volkswagen Group's Czech car company believes that the launch of the new generation Skoda Kodiaq will enhance the brand image of the company in India, particularly as demand for SUVs and crossovers keeps going up in the country as well as globally.

Talking to news agency ANI, Petr Janeba, Director of Skoda Auto India, said that the automaker has big hopes for the new generation Skoda Kodiaq. He said that the first-generation Kodiaq saw the company begin a new chapter in its global journey. "It was our first seven-seater and largest car then. The SUV segment is expanding in the world and, in India, even faster. The Kodiaq has been a crucial vehicle in determining Skoda's brand from 2017 to date," he added.

More Information

Janeba also stated that the first-generation Skoda Kodiaq recorded over 900,000 unit sales globally, and over 10,000 of them were sold in India. He feels that the new generation Kodiaq arrives as a more premium product with improved value for money. Janeba also stated that the new generation Kodiaq will do even better in the Indian market. "We are looking to sell at least 150 per cent more than what we sold with the old version in India," he said, emphasizing the company's strong commitment to increasing its presence in the Indian SUV market.

Details regarding the Skoda Kodiaq SUV

The new generation Skoda Kodiaq SUV is offered as a plug-in hybrid with an onboard battery that can drive the SUV independently for over 100 kilometres. The new Kodiaq is offered in seven different colours. "The new Kodiaq is 100 per cent localised and being produced here in India. The entire car is put together here in our Chatrapati Sambhaji Nagar plant, which is a big contribution," the Skoda representative said. He further added that Skoda is going to introduce their EV segment in India, which is impossible without a highly localised EV.

Conclusion

With the introduction of the new generation Skoda Kodiaq, Skoda Auto India is making a strong assertion of its commitment to the Indian market. By introducing a more premium, value-for-money SUV that is locally produced, the company is positioning itself strategically to benefit from the increasing demand for SUVs in India. The manufacturer's bold aim to increase sales by 150% over the last version reflects its confidence in the market and the product. With Skoda also getting ready to venture into the EV segment, the new Kodiaq can prove to be a key move towards consolidating the brand's footprint and popularity in one of the globe's most rapidly growing auto markets.
