Mercedes-Benz India has made a high mark again by launching two performance machines, the AMG GT 63 and the AMG GT 63 S. The machines are a true reflection of the motto of pushing the boundaries in the high performance segment by the brand and are a step further as it gives further investments to the Indian niche but still growing performance car segment.
In an interview, Santosh Iyer, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Mercedes-Benz India, provides an insight into the driving factors behind the new launches and how things are shaping up in the future of this German marque in the country.
Knowledge Traps of High-Performance Appetite in India
As Iyer puts it, the mind-frame of the Indian luxury car buyer has taken a sharp turn. He says that they are experiencing new, younger, more energetic types of customers who do not mind excessive luxury at the same time, valuing top levels of performance that take up the track.
The AMG GT 63 and the GT 63 Pro are the pure reaction to such demand, something that has never been seen like this before due to its sheer power, precision of engineering, and the actual motorsport-like experience of driving.
Mercedes-Benz has been steadily beefing up its AMG offerings in the country, and through these launches, it is setting out on the purpose to occupy the performance car segment.
Both models are a mix of incredible performance and subtle routine usability, where the comfort of the new type of premium buyers in India lies.
Future Plans: More AMGs, EVs, and Local Experiences
In the future, Iyer indicates that Mercedes-Benz will keep on localizing its approach by increasing high-performance and electric vehicle lines. The brand plans to provide more immersion by using AMG Performance Centres and track day events so that the buyers can experience the engineering under the badge.
He further cited how India has turned out to be a critical element of the global road map of Mercedes-Benz, as the sales are always on the upsurge, dealerships are ever expanding, and overall, the demand for up-scale luxury vehicles in Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities is on the rise.
Conclusion
Mercedes-Benz is not introducing another bunch of quick cars with the AMG GT 63 series in India; it is rewriting the definition of performance for the luxury car users in India. The brand has powerful leadership, supported by customer insight that makes it re-accelerating towards a better, faster, and customer-driven future with electric power.
