Renault Scenic Crowned 2024 Car Of The Year At Geneva Motor Show

Renault Scenic Crowned 2024 Car of the Year at Geneva Motor Show

In a momentous win, the Renault Scenic has been named the 2024 Car of the Year, triumphing over stiff competition at the Geneva Motor Show's inaugural event. Outshining a field of seven finalists, including the BMW 5 Series/i5 as a close runner-up, the Scenic secured the top spot with an impressive 329 points, while the BMW garnered 308 points, leaving the rest of the contenders trailing behind. The complete ranking stood as follows:

  1. Renault Scenic - 329 points

  2. BMW 5 Series/i5 - 308
  3. Peugeot 3008/e-3008 - 197

  4. Kia EV9

    • 190

  5. Volvo EX30 - 168

  6. BYD Seal

    • 131

  7. Toyota C-HR - 127

The selection process involved 58 road-testing motoring journalists from 22 countries across Europe, who evaluated a pool of 28 all-new cars available up to November 2023. Each juror assessed the finalists through test drives, allocating 25 votes among the contenders, with a limitation of not assigning more than 10 points to any single car and requiring votes for at least five cars.

Earning commendation for its exceptional performance, the Renault Scenic garnered the highest number of first-place votes, with 22 jurors favouring it, closely followed by the BMW 5 Series/i5 with 19 first-place endorsements. Notably, the BYD Seal marked a milestone as the first Chinese car to make it to the shortlist, surpassing the Toyota C-HR in the rankings.

The Renault Scenic's victory underscores its remarkable attributes, combining spaciousness for five occupants, versatile functionality, and an appealing design both inside and out. Praised for its agility and impressive electric range, the Scenic emerges as the premier choice in the family car segment.

Commenting on the selection process, jurors emphasised a stringent criterion favouring cars that excel within their respective classes, ultimately elevating the Scenic and the BMW 5 Series/i5 above their competitors.

While the Scenic secured the prestigious title, the awards ceremony also recognized other notable contenders, including the innovative Volvo EX30, the spacious Kia EV9, and the technologically advanced Peugeot 3008/e-3008.

As automotive enthusiasts await the Scenic's reign on the roads, the Car of the Year accolade reaffirms Renault's commitment to delivering exceptional vehicles that resonate with consumers' needs and preferences.
