The New BMW 5 Series is a luxurious and elegant sedan that defines the epitome of style and comfort. With its sophisticated design and graceful lines, it exudes class and prestige. Inside, the cabin offers a spacious and plush environment with all the latest features and technology to elevate your driving experience. The 5 Series of BMW cars is equipped with a powerful engine and smooth handling, ensuring a smooth and refined ride. It's the perfect choice for those seeking a blend of luxury and performance in a sedan.
BMW gave the 5-Series sedan a mild makeover in the first half of 2023, in which it received minor tweaks to its exterior and a few feature additions. The M Sport package of visual enhancers, derived from BMWs M division of performance-oriented cars, is now offered as standard in the two-variant lineup of the BMW 5-Series.
The lineup of the BMW 5-Series sedan has also been cut short to only two fully-loaded variants one petrol and one diesel, which get the same feature list.
BMW discontinued the previously-available 520d Luxury Line, 50 Jahre M Edition and 530d M Sport in March 2023.
The 2.0-litre petrol engine and 2.0-litre diesel engine on offer were also tuned to comply with BS6 Stage-II emission norms in the 2023 update.
With this minor facelift and technical upgrade, the new BMW 5-Series also became a bit pricier than earlier. The BMW 5-Series is now available in four colour options - Alpine White, Carbon Black, Phytonic Blue and Bluestone Metallic.
Some of the key exterior highlights are as follows:
The minimal updates introduced by BMW for the 5-Series have worked wonders in making it more premium and expensive. BMW is now offering an M Sport package as standard on both the variants of the 5-Series.
This package includes visual enhancers, such as a high-gloss black finish for the air breather and chrome vertical slats for the dual kidney grille in the front fascia.
On the side, the BMW 5-Series gets M badges on the front fenders, M door sill finishers, a high-gloss black finish for the mirror base and B-pillar.
The M Sport alloy wheels have an M Sport brake with dark blue callipers with the M designation behind them.
At the rear, the BMW 5-Series has a trapezoidal tailpipe finisher in high-gloss chrome. There is also a satin aluminium finish for the window recess cover and a finisher for the window frame.
The M Sport package also consists of an M aerodynamics package with a front apron, side skirts and a rear apron with diffuser inserts. This aerodynamics package features a dark shadow metallic treatment as standard.
At the front, the BMW 5-Series also comes with Matrix LED headlamps for low-beam and high-beam functionalities. The dual L-shaped daytime running LEDs also double up as LED turn indicators for the car.
The outsider rearview mirrors featuring integrated LED turn indicators are electrically-adjustable and foldable with heating and memory functions.
Some of the distinctive interior details are as follows:
BMW is offering four Sensatec perforated leather upholstery options for the 5-Series. These include black and Canberra beige with contrast stitching, black and cognac brown with contrast stitching, all-black with contrast stitching and black and cognac brown with exclusive stitching.
In all four upholstery options, the 5-Series has standard M interior trim finishers in aluminium rhombic smoke grey with highlight trim finishers in pearl chrome.
The high-tech appeal of the BMW 5-Series is courtesy of the 12.3-inch screens for the instrument console and touchscreen infotainment system running on the BMW operating system 7.0.
The sports seats offered in the 5-Series as standard feature power adjustments for both driver and passenger and memory function for the driver.
Other premium features in the cabin of the 5-Series include four-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, BMW gesture control and electric roller sunblinds for rear windows.
More comfort is ensured by additional features like a sunroof, electrically-adjustable M leather steering wheel, wireless charger and 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
The safety feature list in the BMW 5-Series includes the following:
The standard safety features in the BMW 5-Series have six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, front and rear parking sensors and a reverse camera.
A few additional features in this list are dynamic stability and traction control, cornering brake control and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
The 5-Series also get front and rear park distance control, parking assistant, reverse assistant and surround-view camera, allowing you to park this long car easily in tight spaces.
Both the engine options offered in the BMW 5-Series are four-cylinder turbocharged powertrains. However, they are high on performance and deliver uncompromised power delivery.
The 2.0-litre petrol engine in the 530i M Sport churns out 252 bhp of power and 350 Nm of torque. This engine enables it to cover the 0-100 kmph sprint in 6.1 seconds.
The 2.0-litre diesel engine offered in the 520 M Sport produces 190 bhp of power and 400 Nm of torque and helps the 5-Series to cover the 0-100 kmph sprint in 7.3 seconds.
The BMW 5-Series has always remained a drivers delight with its impeccable driving experience. The latest iteration of the sedan follows the tradition with the BMW Driving Experience Control, featuring four drive modes Sport, Comfort, Eco Pro and Adaptive.
The 5-Series sedan also has adaptive Suspension with independent damping, a launch control function and a Servotronic steering assist for enhanced driving comfort.
Despite producing impressive performance figures, the BMW 5-Series is high on fuel efficiency.
The 2.0-litre petrol engine in the 530i M Sport claims 14.82 kmpl.
The 2.0-litre diesel engine in the 520d M Sport can blow your mind with its impressive fuel efficiency of 20.37 kmpl.
Given the large dimensions of the 5-Series, BMW has equipped the sedan with features like front and rear park distance control, parking assistant, reverse assistant and a surround-view camera. This comprehensive set of features can help you park this nearly 5-metre-long car in an easier way.
However, while these features in the 5-Series are smart enough to ease off your parking experience, finding a parking spot can be a daunting task in crowded areas. This is where Park+ comes to your rescue with its location finder feature.
You can use the Park+ app, to find and book a parking spot well in advance, even before reaching the parking spot. You can also avail of additional features by Park+ such as insurance renewal reminders, service reminders, doorstep car washing and FASTag recharges.
