Renault Kiger Facelift Launched: Specs, Features, Price & Mileage

Renault has introduced the facelifted Kiger in India, starting at Rs. 6.29 lakh (ex-showroom). While the engines remain unchanged, the compact SUV gets refreshed styling and a few new features, making it a stronger contender in its segment. Buyers can still choose between the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol and the more powerful turbo petrol unit.

Renault Kiger is one of the most popular compact SUVs in India and now the French carmaker has introduced a mid-life facelift. At the base, the prices start at Rs. 6.29 lakh (ex-showroom), with the updated model offering more than just cosmetic changes and feature additions; the familiarity of the powertrain choices continues to remain of the earlier version.

Engine and Powertrain Available

Renault has retained the same line-up of motors in the facelifted Kiger. Customers have an option of a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and the 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine.

  • The 1.0-litre NA petrol motor produces 72bhp and 96Nm of torque. It can be paired with either a five-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed AMT.

  • The turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol engine delivers a punchier 100bhp and 160Nm of torque, coupled with a five-speed manual transmission or an optional CVT for a smoother driving experience.

Mileage Figures

One of the bright moments with the Kiger is the fuel efficiency. The naturally aspirated petrol engine has a claimed continuous mileage rating of 19.83 kmpl whereas the turbo petrol model has a claimed continuous mileage rating of 20.38 kmpl making the Kiger one of the more fuel economical choices in the compact SUV segment.

Updates to features and design

Although mechanicals have not been worked upon, there are apparent cosmetic benefits of the facelift. Expect an attractive new front fascia, redesigned alloy wheels, minor interior updates.

These modifications will help to keep the Kiger up-to-date and at pace versus competitors such as the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Maruti Brezza.

Pricing and Positioning

The Renault Kiger is still one of the cheapest compact SUVs in India with a starting price set at Rs. 6.29 lakh. It has the right set of features, sleek design, top-notch powertrains and an extensive variety of variants that make it a tempting buy.
