Nissan Tekton SUV: What to Expect Before Launch

Nissan is set to re-enter the midsize SUV space with the Tekton, a rebadged Renault Duster carrying distinct styling. Here is a complete look at what the new SUV is likely to offer in terms of design, engines, features and pricing before its official unveiling.

  • Nissan Tekton, a rebadged Renault Duster, is set to launch on July 9, 2026

  • The SUV gets fresh styling, familiar engines and a competitive midsize rivalry

The midsize SUV category in India has grown crowded, with a dozen models already jostling for attention. Nissan is now stepping back into this space with the Tekton, marking the brand's comeback to the segment since the Kicks was discontinued back in 2023.

Underneath, the Tekton shares its platform and mechanicals with the Renault Duster, though Nissan has given it a distinct exterior identity. The SUV is set to be unveiled officially on July 9, 2026.

How Does The Tekton Differ From The Duster

As with most badge-engineered products, certain elements will carry over between the two SUVs. Panels such as the doors, bonnet, front and rear fenders are likely to be shared, but teaser images suggest the Tekton gets its own front fascia along with a distinctive LED lighting design.

Nissan has stated that the styling draws inspiration from its flagship Patrol SUV, a model that enjoys strong popularity in international markets. Inside, the cabin is expected to retain much of the Duster's core technology and features, though with its own dashboard layout, colour treatment and trim finishes.

What Engines Will Power The Nissan Tekton

Power is expected to come from the same sources as the Duster, meaning a 100hp 1.0-litre unit and a 163hp 1.3-litre turbo-petrol option.

Both engines should be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox, while a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic is likely reserved for the more powerful 1.3-litre engine alone. The Duster is also due to gain a 160hp 1.8-litre strong-hybrid powertrain around Diwali this year, though it is not yet confirmed whether this option will extend to the Tekton.

What Features Could The Tekton Offer

Higher trims of the Tekton are tipped to include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google built in, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof.

On the safety front, expect six airbags as standard, along with ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitoring, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and tyre-pressure monitoring.

Given that the Duster already offers a generous kit list even in its lower variants, it will be worth watching how Nissan structures the Tekton's trim-wise offerings.

What Could The Tekton Cost And Who Will It Rival

Pricing is expected to broadly mirror the Duster, which currently spans Rs 10.49 lakh to Rs 18.69 lakh for its top turbo-petrol trim. Once launched, the Tekton will go up against a long list of established rivals, including the Duster itself, along with the Tata Sierra, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Maruti Grand Vitara and the Maruti Victoris.
