Nissan Magnite CNG Arrives at Just Rs 6.89 Lakh: Budget-Friendly SUV

Nissan’s new Magnite CNG variant opens bookings June 1 with six trims priced between Rs 6.89 lakh and Rs 10.02 lakh. The 1.0-litre petrol model gets a Motozen CNG kit for Rs 75,000, backed by a three-year/1 lakh km warranty.

On May 28, 2025, Nissan officially revealed the Magnite CNG across India. Bookings kick off on June 1 at authorised dealerships in Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, and Karnataka. The SUV’s launch confirms earlier reports about Nissan’s affordable CNG push in the compact-SUV segment.

Nissan’s decision to add a factory-approved CNG option aims to attract buyers seeking lower running costs without compromising on style or comfort. The company says the retrofit kit is fully compatible with Magnite’s existing design, ensuring a seamless fit and retaining cabin space.

Variants and Pricing

The Magnite CNG is offered in all six petrol trims, each with an added Rs 75,000 for the dealer-fit kit:

  • Visia: Rs 6.89 lakh

  • Visia+: Rs 7.39 lakh

  • Acenta: Rs 8.04 lakh

  • N-Connecta: Rs 8.72 lakh

  • Tekna: Rs 9.67 lakh

  • Tekna+: Rs 10.02 lakh

By positioning the entry-level CNG Magnite below Rs 7 lakh, Nissan undercuts rivals and broadens its appeal to budget-minded buyers.

Engine and Performance

Under the hood, the Magnite CNG retains its 1.0-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. While CNG generally produces slightly less power than petrol, Nissan assures drivers of reliable day-to-day performance, smooth throttle response, and improved fuel economy.

Nissan engineers focused on tuning the engine mapping for CNG use, aiming to deliver a balance of efficiency and drivability. The lighter single-cylinder CNG tank also helps maintain the SUV’s agile handling characteristics.

CNG Kit Installation & Warranty

Nissan sources the CNG kit from Motozen, a recognised supplier in the alternative-fuel market. Installation takes place at government-authorised fitment centres, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.

Buyers receive a standard three-year/1 lakh km warranty on the CNG system, matching the regular vehicle warranty. This coverage includes components such as the tank, injector, and fuel lines, giving customers peace of mind over long-term ownership.

In Phase 2, Nissan plans to roll out dealer-level fitment in more states, making the CNG option accessible to a wider audience.

Competitor Comparison

When compared to rivals, the Magnite CNG stands out on price:

ModelPrice Range (Rs lakh)
Nissan Magnite CNG6.89 – 10.02
Tata Punch CNG7.30 – 10.17
Hyundai Exter CNG7.51 – 9.25
Renault Kiger CNG6.90 – 9.82

By undercutting the Punch and Exter at the entry-level, the Magnite invites cost-conscious buyers to reconsider their options in the ₹7 lakh segment.

Benefits of Going CNG

  • Lower Fuel Costs: CNG rates are generally 30–40% lower than petrol per kilometre.

  • Eco Friendlier: CNG produces fewer CO₂ and particulate emissions, contributing to cleaner air.

  • Smooth Operation: Modern CNG systems offer minimal noise and vibration, rivalling petrol performance.

  • Resale Value: Factory-backed CNG conversions tend to hold value better than aftermarket kits.

Overall, Magnite CNG Nissan combines affordability, efficiency, and reliability in its compact SUV package. Priced attractively and backed by a solid warranty, this model caters to Indian buyers keen on reducing fuel bills without sacrificing style or comfort. For anyone eyeing a budget-friendly, greener ride, the Nissan Magnite CNG is hard to overlook.
