Nissan India Confirms 3 New Launches: MPV, Midsize SUV & 7-Seater by 2027

Despite the restructuring with costs, closing of production, turnover in the personnel, and sales at its headquartered location in Tokyo, Japan, Nissan's commitment to India remains steadfast as the company has outlined its three-car plan for the market. The car lineup will consist of a subcompact MPV, midsize SUV, and 7-seater SUV (not an MPV) from 2026 to 2027, each of which is under development with the local market needs in mind.

Despite global economic headwinds for Nissan Motor Corporation and reports that it is looking to sell its headquarters in Japan, the automaker remains firmly committed to India.

With continued growth in one of the world's most competitive auto markets, now is the time for Nissan to lay down its plans to introduce three new cars by 2027.

Following the debut of the restyled CNG variant version of the Magnite, Nissan is now preparing to produce a new subcompact MPV plus a midsize SUV, and an all-new 7-seater SUV - all to enhance its operations in a challenging market.

New Subcompact MPV Arriving in Early 2026

The first model is a brand-new sub-compact MPV, which will launch in Q1 2026. The MPV will be based on the Renault Triber and customized with Nissan styling elements, such as the characteristic grille, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, sporty bumpers, new alloy wheels and roof rails.

The MPV will be powered by the 72bhp, 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a 5-speed manual and AMT transmission option. With a small footprint and flexible seating, this MPV will target urban families looking for something practical and value for money.

Midsize SUV to arrive by Mid-2026

The midsize SUV, which is based on the next-generation Renault Duster, will be launched around mid-2026. The new midsize SUV will be developed in Nissan style, and will likely feature better interiors and upgraded tech features to attract the growing number of SUV buyers in India. The C-segment SUV is expected to create a strong competitor in the budding midsize segment.

All-New 7-Seater SUV Coming in 2027

Instead of being just a longer version of the midsize SUV, which many expected, the 7-seater SUV coming in 2027 has already been confirmed to be a brand new car and designed from the ground up to deliver a “proper 7-seater.” Most likely sourcing inspiration from Renault’s Boreal SUV, it will offer plenty of room and a good range of premium features.

With production already in motion out of its Chennai plant, Nissan’s future product roadmap supports its commitment to the long-term opportunities in the Indian market. The company will get a new opportunity in critical segments with these new models.
