NHAI Sets Up a Dedicated Cell to Review National Highway Project DPRs

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has established a dedicated Detailed Project Report (DPR) cell at its headquarters in New Delhi to enhance the review and quality of national highway project DPRs. This initiative aims to ensure the highest construction standards, cost-effectiveness, and timely completion of highway projects.

Key Features of the DPR Cell:

Professional Team:

The DPR cell consists of a dedicated team of around 40 professionals, including Principal DPR Experts and various domain experts in road safety, traffic, land acquisition, bridges, tunnels, geotechnical engineering, senior highway engineering, and forest specialties.

Expert Inputs and Monitoring:

The cell will provide expert inputs and enable end-to-end monitoring of DPRs for NH projects. It aims to bring uniformity in the review mechanism, ensuring that quality DPRs are prepared and reviewed before project implementation.

Comprehensive Review:

The cell will finalize various parameters for all highway components (highways and structures) as per Indian Roads Congress (IRC) specifications and standards. It will also study bid documents and technical schedules related to NH projects, providing cost estimates based on design features.

Pre-Construction Planning:

Assistance will be provided in planning pre-construction activities and incorporating projects with the Highway Information Model Software (HIMS).

Site Visits and Innovation:

Officials from the cell will undertake site visits to evaluate proposals made by DPR/design consultants, suggesting innovative practices to enhance quality output in the DPR relevant to the project.

Quality and Growth:

The DPR cell aims to prepare accurate reports that will enable the development of world-class national highways, contributing to the growth of the nation.

By setting up this dedicated DPR cell, NHAI is taking significant steps to ensure that national highway projects are executed with the highest standards of quality and efficiency, ultimately contributing to the infrastructure growth of the country.
