New Toyota Hilux India Launch Set For July 28

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has officially confirmed that the next-generation Hilux will arrive in India on July 28, 2026, bringing a fresh design language, an upgraded and more premium cabin, and an expanded safety suite to the popular lifestyle pickup. While the tried-and-tested diesel engine and four-wheel-drive setup are expected to carry over largely unchanged, the updated model looks set to sharpen the Hilux's appeal with modern technology and added convenience features, all while retaining its rugged, go-anywhere character.

  • Updated pickup brings fresh styling and a more premium, feature-loaded cabin

  • Mechanical setup likely to stay familiar, with a wider safety net expected

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has officially confirmed that the new-generation Hilux will make its India debut on July 28, 2026. The lifestyle pickup has been waiting for a proper update for a while now, and going by what Toyota has revealed so far, this isn't just going to be a mild cosmetic touch-up.

The company appears keen to keep the truck's tough, no-nonsense character intact while making it feel noticeably more upmarket and easier to live with day to day.

Exterior Changes Bring A Sharper, More Modern Look

Most of the visible updates are expected on the outside. The new Hilux gets a bolder front end with a larger grille, slimmer LED headlamps and a reworked bumper that gives it a more assertive road presence.

The overall stance and proportions remain much as before, but new alloy wheel designs and subtle tweaks at the rear should help it look noticeably more current when parked next to the outgoing version.

Cabin Set For A Significant Upgrade

It's inside the cabin where buyers are likely to notice the biggest shift. Toyota is expected to fit a completely redesigned dashboard along with a larger touchscreen infotainment unit and a fully digital instrument cluster.

Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging and a 360-degree camera are also on the cards, which would bring the Hilux's interior much closer in line with what buyers now expect at this price point.

Engine And Drivetrain Likely To Carry Over

Under the skin, changes are expected to be minimal. The Hilux will most probably continue with its familiar 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine, offered with the choice of a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox.

The four-wheel-drive system with a low-range transfer case is also set to remain, so the pickup's off-road ability shouldn't be affected by the broader update.

Safety Kit Expected To Be Bolstered

Toyota also looks set to widen the safety net on the new Hilux. Six airbags, vehicle stability control, hill assist and downhill assist control are likely to be standard fare, while the higher variants could gain an expanded ADAS suite.

This may include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert, features that would bring the Hilux up to speed with newer rivals in the segment.

Pricing Expected To See A Modest Rise

The current Hilux is priced from Rs 30.40 lakh, ex-showroom. Given the scope of the updates on offer, the new generation is likely to command a slight premium over the outgoing model, though the official figures will only be known once Toyota announces prices on 28 July.
