The Gurugram Traffic Police has announced new guidelines instructing officers not to stop vehicles or issue challans (fines) during nighttime checks, except in extreme circumstances. This move comes in response to numerous complaints about vehicle checks at night.
New Directives

Official Statements
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Traffic Virendra Vij stated that the new rules are to be strictly followed. In an order dated May 28, he emphasized:
Traffic inspectors must instruct their personnel not to stop vehicles or issue challans at night.
If a challan is necessary, it should only be issued after notifying a concerned gazetted officer and obtaining permission.
Consequences for Non-Compliance
Vij warned that any traffic police personnel who do not follow these new rules will face strict action.
There are some major reasons behind these new rules. Firstly, it was reported that traffic police were unnecessarily stopping vehicles and harassing drivers at night. Moreover, the traffic police aim to avoid such issues and ensure the fair treatment of drivers.
Focus on Drunk Driving
Despite the new guidelines, the traffic police will continue to be strict against drunk driving at night to prevent major road accidents.
