New Gen Kia Carnival Spied Testing Again In Hilly Terrain

New-Gen Kia Carnival Spied Testing Again in Hilly Terrain

After being discontinued in 2023, the Kia Carnival is making a comeback in India with its latest iteration. Recently, the premium MPV was spotted testing in the high-altitude regions of Himachal Pradesh, providing a sneak peek at what’s to come. Here’s a closer look at the new-gen Kia Carnival as we await its official debut.

What’s New

The latest spy shots give us a clearer view of the upcoming MPV's front-end design, despite the camouflage wrap. The new Carnival features:

  • LED Headlights: A revamped LED headlight setup, resembling the design language of the Kia EV9, complete with L-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs).

  • Front Fascia: A larger and more upright nose, with a wider grille compared to the previous model sold in India.

Expected Interiors and Features

While the interiors of the India-spec Carnival haven’t been revealed yet, we can expect it to mirror the global model’s technology and design. Anticipated features include:

  • Displays: A single curved glass pane integrating two 12.3-inch displays.

  • Sunroof: Panoramic sunroof for an airy cabin feel.

  • Seating: Ventilated and powered seats for added comfort.

  • Air Conditioning: Three-zone auto AC system with redesigned vents.

  • Entertainment: A rear-seat entertainment package with two screens for second-row passengers.

  • Additional Features: Wireless phone charging and other premium amenities.

Engine and Performance

Official powertrain details for the India-spec new-gen Carnival haven’t been released by Kia. However, we anticipate it will be offered with a single engine option, paired with an automatic transmission. Globally, the Carnival is available with:

  • 3.5-litre V6 Petrol: Producing 287 PS and 353 Nm.

  • 1.6-litre Petrol-Hybrid: Delivering 242 PS and 367 Nm.

  • The previous model sold in India featured a 2.2-litre diesel engine (200 PS/440 Nm) with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Price and Rivals

The 2024 Kia Carnival is expected to have a starting price higher than Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as a more plush and premium alternative to the Toyota Innova Hycross, it aims to attract buyers seeking luxury and comfort, while still being more affordable than high-end MPVs like the Toyota Vellfire and Lexus LM.

Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the official launch of the new-generation Kia Carnival in India.
