The MG Majestor's confirmed India launch date, variant line-up, powertrain details, and pre-booking information
How the Majestor stacks up against rivals like the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, and Volkswagen Tayron with its design, features, and pricing
MG's New Flagship ICE SUV Steps Above the Gloster
JSW MG Motor India has officially confirmed that the Majestor will go on sale in India on April 20, 2026. Slotted above the Gloster in MG's existing line-up, the Majestor is positioned as the brand's flagship internal combustion engine SUV. It will go up against some well-established names in the segment, including the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, and the Volkswagen Tayron.
The Majestor was first shown publicly at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 and was subsequently revealed in its India-specific form earlier this year.
For buyers keen on securing one ahead of the launch, pre-bookings are currently open at Rs. 41,000.
A 2.0-Litre Twin-Turbo Diesel Does the Heavy Lifting
Power, Transmission, and Drive Options Explained
Under the bonnet, the Majestor is powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine producing 213bhp and 478Nm of torque. This engine is paired with an eight-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox.
Depending on the variant chosen, buyers can opt for either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, giving the Majestor a degree of flexibility that should appeal to both urban buyers and those who venture off the beaten track.
Three Variants With Seating for Six or Seven
The Majestor will be offered in three variants, namely the Sharp 4x2, Savvy 4x2, and Savvy 4x4. Buyers will also be able to choose between six-seat and seven-seat layouts, adding further practicality to what is a sizeable ladder-frame SUV.
Revised Exterior Gives the Majestor a Bolder Presence
Design Updates That Set It Apart From the Gloster
On the outside, the Majestor gets a noticeably refreshed look compared to the outgoing Gloster. It features a new grille, updated LED lighting, reworked front and rear bumpers, and newly designed alloy wheels. Roof rails, blacked-out pillars, faux skid plates, and dual exhaust tips round off a silhouette that feels more assertive and contemporary.
A Feature-Rich Cabin Built for Comfort and Convenience
Inside, the Majestor promises a premium experience with upholstered seating, a large infotainment system, ADAS technology, and a panoramic sunroof, among other comfort features.
Given its dimensions and construction, the cabin should offer a genuinely spacious environment for all three rows of passengers.
Pricing That Could Unsettle the Fortuner's Stronghold
With an expected price range of Rs. 40 lakh to Rs. 45 lakh (ex-showroom), the Majestor is positioned to take a serious swing at the Toyota Fortuner, a model that has long dominated this segment. The combination of updated styling, a more comprehensive feature list, and competitive pricing may well make the Majestor a compelling proposition for buyers who want a full-size SUV with a modern character.
