Mercedes-Benz G580 Recalled in India Over Wheel Bolt Issue

Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for 99 units of its G580 electric SUV in India over a potential wheel bolt issue. The company is conducting inspections as a precautionary safety measure, with all necessary repairs. The move reflects the brand’s commitment to maintaining high safety standards across its premium electric vehicle lineup.

- Mercedes-Benz has triggered a voluntary recall for its newly introduced luxury electric SUV due to substandard wheel bolts.

- A total of 99 units of the G580 electric SUV have been recalled.

Mercedes-Benz has announced a recall for its flagship electric off-roader, the G 580 with EQ Technology, in India. The move comes after a potential issue was identified with wheel bolts that may not meet the company’s required specifications, raising concerns over long-term durability and safety.

What’s the reason behind the recall?

According to official details, the recall impacts 99 units of the Mercedes-Benz G580 electric SUV manufactured between July 12, 2024, and August 18, 2025. The issue is linked to wheel bolts that could gradually loosen over time under certain driving conditions. In rare cases, this could affect wheel stability and increase the risk of reduced driving safety.

Although no incidents or accidents have been reported so far, Mercedes-Benz has initiated the recall as a preventive safety measure.

Key details of the recall

  • Total units affected: 99
  • Model: Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology
  • Production period: July 2024 – August 2025
  • Issue: Potential wheel bolt irregularity
  • Action: Inspection and replacement if required

About the Mercedes-Benz G580 EV

The G 580 electric SUV is the fully electric version of the iconic G-Class lineup. It continues to retain its rugged design while introducing advanced electric mobility technology.

The SUV is powered by a 116 kWh battery pack and features a quad-motor setup delivering strong off-road capability along with luxury-focused performance.

It produces around 579 hp with a top speed of about 180 kmph. The electric G-Class also offers a WLTP-claimed driving range of around 470+ km, depending on driving conditions.

What this means for owners

Owners of the affected G580 units are advised to await official communication from Mercedes-Benz dealerships. The inspection will focus on verifying wheel bolt integrity and replacing parts if required.

While the issue is not linked to any reported failures in real-world conditions, the recall highlights the brand’s focus on maintaining high safety standards across its EV lineup.
