Maruti Suzuki has launched the Smart Maintenance Plan, a pre-paid, flexible service package covering private and commercial vehicle owners for up to 10 years or 1,60,000 km.
The plan offers guaranteed savings on labour costs, protection against future service inflation, and is valid pan-India at all authorised Maruti Suzuki workshops.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited has launched a new after-sales offering called the Smart Maintenance Plan, or SMP, targeting existing car owners across both private and commercial segments. The initiative, announced on June 15, 2026, is being positioned as a customer-first move that takes the unpredictability out of vehicle upkeep costs.
What the Smart Maintenance Plan Covers
At its core, the SMP is a pre-paid service package that owners can personalise based on their driving habits and usage patterns. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, the plan allows buyers to select from a range of service configurations, giving them meaningful control over what they pay for and what they get in return.
The service options available under the SMP span labour-only packages, combined parts and labour plans, minor commercial vehicle services, customer-demanded services, and consumables such as engine oil and coolants.
On top of these, owners can also opt for wear-and-tear coverage on components like clutch plates and brakes, which tend to add up in cost over time.
Savings and Tenure Options Under the SMP
One of the more tangible draws of the plan is the financial protection it offers. Subscribers are guaranteed a minimum saving of 10 per cent on labour costs, with additional savings on parts and consumables.
Perhaps more importantly, the plan locks in service pricing, effectively insulating owners from future cost escalations in maintenance.
Private and Commercial Vehicle Tenure Plans
For private vehicle owners, the SMP is available in tenures of:
2 years or 20,000 km
5 years or 50,000 km, and
A long-term option extending to 10 years or 1,00,000 km
Commercial vehicle owners are also covered, with plans running up to 10 years or 1,60,000 km, which makes the SMP particularly relevant for fleet operators who depend heavily on Maruti Suzuki vehicles for their operations.
The plan carries pan-India validity, meaning it can be used at any authorised Maruti Suzuki workshop across the country, regardless of where the SMP was originally purchased.
Maruti Suzuki's Take on the Launch
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said that the company's focus since its inception has been to deliver peace of mind and a joyful ownership experience to customers. He added that as customer expectations continue to evolve towards greater flexibility and personalised solutions, the Smart Maintenance Plan has been designed around individual driving needs. The plan, he noted, also allows customers to protect themselves from future fluctuations in service costs by locking in maintenance expenses.
A Step Towards Long-Term Ownership Value
The SMP reflects a broader shift in how carmakers are thinking about the ownership cycle. After-sales offerings that bundle predictability with savings are increasingly becoming a differentiator in a competitive market, and Maruti Suzuki's move to extend this to commercial buyers as well signals an understanding of just how diverse its customer base truly is.
