Maruti Suzuki confirms launch of 4 BEVs for India by 2030.

The e Vitara, which is scheduled to go on sale later this year, will be the first of four BEVs that India will receive by 2030, according to Maruti Suzuki. According to earlier information made by the carmaker, the electric Fronx will be one of the models.

According to Maruti Suzuki, the e Vitara, which is expected to be on sale later this year, would be the first of four BEVs delivered to India by 2030. The automaker had previously revealed that the electric Fronx would be one of the vehicles.

Given its global reach and its pivotal role in Maruti's fight against sub-four-meter SUVs, this move is expected. Since this is an unexplored market with tremendous potential among fleet operators, we also anticipate an electric version of the Ertiga.

No Small Cars in the pipeline

This is because the carmaker is playing the EV game cautiously and will launch new models in response to the e Vitara's performance. As assumptions made, it is adopting a top-down strategy for BEVs. Given that a fresh battle is anticipated to begin by 2026 with the Harrier and Sierra EVs, even the last model on the list may be a "premium" vehicle above the e-Vitara.

Increase in BEV Exports

India is set to be a global EV production hub with the Gujarat factory eventually hoping to make batteries as part of its larger worldwide plans, India is poised to become a global powerhouse for EV production.

Specifications about the Maruti e Vitara

With the help of BYD's blade cell technology, this EV will be offered with 49kWh and 61kWh battery pack options. With the motors positioned on the front axle, these batteries are said to provide 143 horsepower and 173 horsepower, respectively. Both maintain the same torque output of 192.5 Nm.

Although the manufacturer has not yet disclosed the official range of the electric Vitara, it has affirmatively stated that the higher-spec model will provide more than 500 kilometers (MIDC).

Conclusion

India’s EV landscape is set for a transformation with Maruti Suzuki’s planned launch of four BEVs by 2030, starting with the e Vitara. As the brand cautiously enters the EV market with a top-down approach, its success will likely determine the rollout of future models, including potential premium offerings.

Additionally, with India's growing role as a global EV production hub, Maruti Suzuki's strategic focus on exports and battery manufacturing strengthens the country’s position in the EV revolution. The e Vitara, with its promising specifications and extended range, is poised to make a significant impact, setting the stage for Maruti Suzuki’s electric future.
