Mahindra Thar Roxx Vs Mahindra Thar Vs Maruti Suzuki Jimny A Simple Comparison

Mahindra Thar Roxx vs Mahindra Thar vs Maruti Suzuki Jimny: A Simple Comparison

The Mahindra Thar Roxx has made quite an impression in India's SUV market. With the launch of this new model, it’s only natural to compare it with the Mahindra Thar three-door and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.

Engines and Transmissions

The Mahindra Thar Roxx offers a variety of engine and transmission options. For those interested in the RWD variant, the 2.0-liter petrol engine produces 160bhp with 330Nm of torque when paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The same engine gives 175bhp and 380Nm of torque with a 6-speed automatic. If you prefer diesel, the Thar Roxx comes with a 2.2-liter diesel engine. The RWD diesel variant offers 150bhp and 330Nm of torque with both manual and automatic transmissions. The 4WD variant is the most powerful, delivering 172bhp and 370Nm of torque, and it also comes with both manual and automatic options.

The Mahindra Thar three-door has its own set of choices. The RWD variant comes with a 1.5-liter diesel engine that produces 116bhp and 300Nm of torque, available only with a manual transmission. The 2.2-liter diesel engine, delivering 130bhp and 300Nm, is offered with the 4WD option. The 2.0-liter petrol engine produces 150bhp and either 300Nm or 320Nm of torque, depending on whether you choose the manual or automatic transmission.

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny, on the other hand, keeps things simple with just one engine—a 1.5-liter petrol engine producing 105bhp and 134Nm of torque. It offers a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Dimensions

In terms of size, the Mahindra Thar Roxx is the largest, measuring 4,428mm in length, 1,870mm in width, and 1,923mm in height, with a 2,850mm wheelbase. The Mahindra Thar three-door is 3,985mm long, 1,820mm wide, and 1,844mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,450mm. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is the smallest, at 3,985mm in length, 1,645mm in width, and 1,720mm in height, with a 2,590mm wheelbase.

Off-Road Capabilities

When it comes to off-road abilities, all three SUVs perform well. The Mahindra Thar Roxx has an approach angle of 41.7 degrees, a departure angle of 36.1 degrees, and a ramp-over angle of 23.9 degrees. It also features a brake locking differential (BLD) for the RWD variant and an electronic locking differential (ELD) for the 4WD variant.

The Mahindra Thar three-door is similar, with a 41.2-degree approach angle and a 36-degree departure angle, but it has a better ramp-over angle of 26.2 degrees due to its shorter wheelbase. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny, though smaller, is a capable off-roader with a 36-degree approach angle, a 47-degree departure angle, and a 24-degree ramp-over angle.

In conclusion, each SUV has its strengths, whether in engine options, size, or off-road capabilities, making it appealing to different types of drivers.
