Citroen C3 Gets A Revamp Automatic Gearbox And New Features Introduced At Rs 616 Lakh

Citroen C3 Gets a Revamp: Automatic Gearbox and New Features Introduced at Rs 6.16 Lakh

Citroen has made waves in the Indian automotive market with the launch of the updated C3 hatchback, a move poised to capture the attention of city dwellers and driving enthusiasts alike. Starting at Rs 6.16 lakh, this refreshed model introduces a host of new features and upgrades that aim to enhance its appeal. A standout change is the addition of an automatic gearbox option, previously unavailable in the C3 lineup. This feature is expected to boost the model’s attractiveness to a broader range of customers, especially those who prefer the convenience of an automatic transmission in their daily commutes.

The price range for the updated Citroen C3's manual variants extends from Rs 6.16 lakh for the base Live trim to Rs 9.42 lakh for the top-end Shine Turbo Dual Tone + Vibe Pack. However, Citroen has yet to disclose the pricing for the newly introduced automatic variants, leaving potential buyers eagerly awaiting this crucial detail.

Design and Features: A Modern Touch

Externally, the Citroen C3 retains the design language of its predecessor, characterized by its distinctive and modern aesthetic. The most notable exterior upgrade is the addition of projector LED headlights, which are now standard on the Shine trim. These headlights not only enhance visibility but also contribute to a more refined and sophisticated look for the hatchback. Another subtle but significant update is the integration of indicators into the electrically adjustable wing mirrors, which will also be exclusive to the Shine trim.

Inside the cabin, the updated C3 boasts several improvements designed to elevate the driving experience. The inclusion of a 7.0-inch full-digital instrument display adds a contemporary touch to the dashboard, offering clearer and more customizable information at a glance. Automatic climate control is now standard on the Shine variants, enhancing comfort by maintaining the cabin temperature without manual adjustments. On the safety front, both the Feel and Shine trims come equipped with six airbags, ensuring greater protection for occupants in the event of a collision.

Powertrain Options: Turbocharged Performance and Convenience

Under the hood, the Citroen C3 continues to offer two engine options: a naturally aspirated three-cylinder, 1.2-litre petrol engine and a turbocharged variant of the same displacement. The naturally aspirated engine produces 82 bhp and 115 Nm of torque and remains paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. This engine is geared towards those who prioritize simplicity and efficiency.

In contrast, the turbocharged petrol engine, delivering 110 bhp, offers two transmission choices. While it can still be had with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the new 6-speed automatic transmission introduces a significant enhancement. This automatic option provides a more relaxed driving experience and is expected to attract buyers who prefer the ease of an automatic in urban settings. The turbo engine’s torque output varies between the two gearbox options: 190 Nm with the manual transmission and 205 Nm with the automatic, catering to different driving preferences.

A Competitive Edge

Citroen’s strategic updates to the C3 hatchback position it as a competitive player in the Indian market, particularly with the introduction of an automatic gearbox. This addition is likely to make the C3 more appealing to a wider audience, including those who might have previously considered other options due to the lack of an automatic variant.

The updated C3's new features and enhancements also reflect Citroen's commitment to staying relevant in a highly competitive segment. By incorporating modern amenities and focusing on both driver convenience and safety, Citroen aims to offer a well-rounded package that meets the diverse needs of today's car buyers.

As the Indian automotive market continues to evolve, the updated Citroen C3 stands out as a notable entrant with its blend of style, technology, and performance. Prospective buyers will be keen to explore the pricing of the automatic variants and test drive the new model to experience the improvements firsthand. With its fresh updates and competitive pricing, the Citroen C3 is set to make a significant impact in the hatchback segment.
