Kia India has commenced production of the Syros, its newest subcompact SUV, at the Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh.
It will be positioned between the Sonet and Seltos models and the Syros aims to strengthen Kia's presence in the competitive sub-4-meter SUV segment.
The company has reported receiving over 10,000 bookings ahead of its official launch on February 1, 2025.
Design and Features
The Syros showcases Kia's latest design philosophy, featuring a boxy silhouette inspired by the EV9 model. Distinctive design elements include vertical headlamps, L-shaped taillights, and brake lights positioned on the rear bumper.
The interior is equipped with a 30-inch Trinity display, combining a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 5-inch climate control display. Additional features comprise front and rear ventilated seats, a powered driver's seat, and a sliding, reclining rear bench.
Engine Options
Under the hood, the Syros offers two engine choices: a 1.0-liter Smartstream G1.0T-GDi turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-liter Smartstream D1.5 CRDi VGT diesel engine. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic, and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), catering to diverse driving preferences.
Anantapur Manufacturing Facility
Kia's Anantapur plant, operational since 2019, serves as the production hub for the Syros. The facility, spread across 536 acres, has an annual production capacity of 300,000 units and is equipped to manufacture hybrid and electric vehicles.
