Kia Syros Production Commences at Anantapur Plant Ahead of February 1 Launch

Kia India has initiated the production of its latest subcompact SUV, the Syros, at the Anantapur manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh. The vehicle is set to launch on February 1, 2025, with over 10,000 bookings already received.

Kia India has commenced production of the Syros, its newest subcompact SUV, at the Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh.

It will be positioned between the Sonet and Seltos models and the Syros aims to strengthen Kia's presence in the competitive sub-4-meter SUV segment.

The company has reported receiving over 10,000 bookings ahead of its official launch on February 1, 2025.

Design and Features

The Syros showcases Kia's latest design philosophy, featuring a boxy silhouette inspired by the EV9 model. Distinctive design elements include vertical headlamps, L-shaped taillights, and brake lights positioned on the rear bumper.

The interior is equipped with a 30-inch Trinity display, combining a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 5-inch climate control display. Additional features comprise front and rear ventilated seats, a powered driver's seat, and a sliding, reclining rear bench.

Engine Options

Under the hood, the Syros offers two engine choices: a 1.0-liter Smartstream G1.0T-GDi turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-liter Smartstream D1.5 CRDi VGT diesel engine. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic, and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), catering to diverse driving preferences.

Anantapur Manufacturing Facility

Kia's Anantapur plant, operational since 2019, serves as the production hub for the Syros. The facility, spread across 536 acres, has an annual production capacity of 300,000 units and is equipped to manufacture hybrid and electric vehicles.

The commencement of Syros production underscores Kia's commitment to the Indian market and its strategic focus on catering to both domestic and international demand.

Market Positioning and Competition

The Syros is positioned to bridge the gap between Kia's Sonet and Seltos models, targeting consumers seeking a premium subcompact SUV experience.

It is set to compete with established models in the segment, including the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, and Mahindra XUV300. Kia aims to attract customers with the Syros' advanced features, spacious interiors, and cutting-edge technology.

Kia's Commitment to the Indian Market

Ho Sung Song, President and CEO of Kia Corporation, stated, "Today marks a significant milestone as we introduce the Syros, a futuristic SUV set to redefine the Indian automotive landscape. “

With its futuristic features and segment-leading innovations, the Syros underscores Kia’s commitment to pushing the boundaries with every new model."

This sentiment reflects Kia's dedication to delivering innovative and high-quality vehicles tailored to the preferences of Indian consumers.

In conclusion, The initiation of Syros production at the Anantapur facility signifies Kia's strategic expansion in India's subcompact SUV market. With its official launch scheduled for February 1, 2025, and substantial pre-launch bookings, the Syros is poised to make a significant impact in its segment.

Kia's focus on design innovation, advanced features, and manufacturing excellence highlights its commitment to meeting the evolving demands of the Indian automotive market.
